Hard to forget how soulless Ubi is, but this is still really sweet.

Ubi execs are soulless. The devs and artists (who are the ones to do something like this) aren’t

Doubt a place like Ubi has a lot of room for that sort of autonomy - maybe under the table (at which point it wouldn't be much use for PR) but otherwise I'm fairly sure some manager would want to know how this is profitable.

No manager will ever find out who added an additional cat texture to the game. It's not like they vet every single pull request for profitability.

I dont think the execs stand there and watch over their shoulders during crunch time. They probably aren't ever in the office, I imagine. Maybe itsz not so hard to make a kitty cat, especially if they're needing a kitty for something anyway

Executives are soulless. Middle managers are soulless, producers are soulless. Developers typically are not, they are simply controlled by the soulless.

I guessing there's a gaming company called Ubi, and you don't mean universal basic income.

Ubi is short for Ubisoft

[-] amio@kbin.social 6 points 1 year ago

No, I mean the company that developed the game series this thread is about, Ubisoft.
