I'd never heard of that sub thanks so much!
There are different events that happen over the year, organized by different groups. We're actually in part way through one event right now, Lemmyvision, where different regional / country instances submit songs and then everyone votes.

Great where were they advertised?
They were community dependent, not sure to find them all back now
I think there was something about instances allowing people to get verified for 20$ per month to make fun of Twitter
