. Did it take any getting used to?

. What are some industry secrets?

. What type of person do strip clubs attract?

. I heard strip clubs can be pretty shady. Can you confirm?

. Where you invested in being an entertainer before this?

[–] CrystalJagger@lemm.ee 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

At first yeah but that was when I was just a waitress. By the time I started dancing I was pretty comfortable

I dont know any real secrets

All kinds of people

Some of them are very shady

And no I didnt know what I wanted to do before this

[–] Justathroughdaway@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

How long do you plan on doing this? Is it a long term plan or a temporary thing? Most the strippers I've known have done it as a temporary side gig for some extra money. Isn't that what most strippers do? I can't imagine a 50 year old wrinkly woman being a stripper.

[–] CrystalJagger@lemm.ee 2 points 1 day ago

For most its just a temporary thing yeah. But ive been dancing for like 6 years now and dont plan on stopping super soon. You can only do it for so long before your old but its not like I have an end date in mind right now

[–] Justathroughdaway@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Also, how old are you and what age did you get starded?

[–] CrystalJagger@lemm.ee 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Im 24 now and was 18 when I started

Thanks for the response. This thread was very interesting to read as I'm in a similar field. I'm not a stripper but I am a dancer/actress. Although I have noticed that being a dancer does overlap sometimes. Other dancers and some of my friends have been strippers at one point. Some still are. I guess they do require the same amount of showmanship and athleticism.

Thanks for doing this AMA!

  1. How did you get your dancing to professional standard?
  2. How do you stay safe at work?
  3. How many amazing stripper shoes do you own? I've always loved them but absolutely can't walk in heels.
[–] CrystalJagger@lemm.ee 15 points 3 weeks ago

Have you ever dated a customer?

[–] CrystalJagger@lemm.ee 27 points 3 weeks ago

Dated no. Hooked up yes.

[–] sp3tr4l@lemmy.zip 18 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

Probably a dumb question given your username, but just to clarify:

Do you or do you not have moves like Jagger?

[–] CrystalJagger@lemm.ee 11 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I do indeed move like Mick himself

[–] sp3tr4l@lemmy.zip 7 points 3 weeks ago

Excellent!

I hope all your clients can get some satisfaction from that, haha.

[–] jpreston2005@lemmy.world 14 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

It's said that strip joints are the "canary in the coal mine" for upcoming recessions. I'm reading that a recession is coming, does that line up with what you're currently experiencing?

[–] CrystalJagger@lemm.ee 10 points 3 weeks ago

Not really. I mean there are good and bad seasons but I have always managed to make a living from this. And even in my best times ever there were a few nights I did shit

[–] spankmonkey@lemmy.world 14 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

What is your favorite dinosaur?

[–] magnetosphere@fedia.io 14 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Is prostitution common? How has it varied at different clubs you’ve worked at?

[–] CrystalJagger@lemm.ee 14 points 3 weeks ago

Not uncommon but places I’ve worked extras are kinda left up to the dancers to decide for themselves if they give them. And some girls do meet up with customers after to escort

[–] TootSweet@lemmy.world 12 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Do you like your job?

If you could do any job you wanted, what would you pick?

[–] CrystalJagger@lemm.ee 19 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I do like my job. Theres good and bad to every job of course but this has been mostly good for me. And if I could do anything I guess working with animals somehow

[–] bhamlin@lemmy.world 7 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

I know it's not what you meant, but now I want to see animal strippers.

[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 11 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Possum laying motionless on the stage wearing a thong.

[–] Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 8 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

silverback gorilla in a bikini standing confused on the stage, looks at the crowd and decides to do what he knows best: rears up and beats his chest furiously

the crowd goes wild

[–] bhamlin@lemmy.world 7 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Somehow a gorilla in clothing is more scandalous than naked. 😏

Haave you been stripping long enough to be able to see any changes post pandemic?

How resilient is the clientele to economic downturns?

[–] CrystalJagger@lemm.ee 14 points 3 weeks ago

I started in 2019. So there was a year there where I wasnt dancing when everywhere was closed. But then when I came back there were rules for a little while about touching and distance and masks but then those went away. And sometimes there are slower seasons so maybe that had to do with the economy but never to the point of thinking I need to do something else

[–] softcat@lemmy.ca 10 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Does the place have a buffet or hotdog station or anything

[–] CrystalJagger@lemm.ee 12 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

The club I dance at now no. But I used to dance at one with a buffet

[–] softcat@lemmy.ca 9 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)
[–] CrystalJagger@lemm.ee 12 points 3 weeks ago

Sometimes not always haha

[–] wildbus8979@sh.itjust.works 6 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

World you have eaten the food?

[–] CrystalJagger@lemm.ee 13 points 3 weeks ago

Cant eat while I work but only some of the food would have made you sick

[–] CMDR_Horn@lemmy.world 9 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

What's the most dangerous situation you've been in while on the job at the club?

[–] CrystalJagger@lemm.ee 9 points 3 weeks ago

Nothing just super dangerous. A couple guys saying creepy thing or getting handsy but security is good at kicking them out

[–] BlackJerseyGiant@beehaw.org 8 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Have you ever spent time in a Turkish prison?

[–] navi@lemmy.tespia.org 8 points 3 weeks ago

Joey, do you ever hang out in the YMCA locker room?

What's your favorite movie from the past year and why?

[–] CrystalJagger@lemm.ee 13 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Thats anora bait and you know it

[–] anonymouse2@sh.itjust.works 7 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Legitimately asking. Wasn't making an assumption.

[–] CrystalJagger@lemm.ee 7 points 3 weeks ago

I know I was joking sorry. But seriously anora and then sonic 3 probably

[–] apotheotic@beehaw.org 7 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

What's the entry point like for this as a profession? Did you jump right in with strip dancing or were you already a dancer or performer of some variety?

[–] CrystalJagger@lemm.ee 8 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I was a topless waitress for a couple months while I was first learning pole work then I was okay enough they let me dance

[–] apotheotic@beehaw.org 5 points 3 weeks ago

Interesting. Thanks for sharing.

[–] southsamurai@sh.itjust.works 6 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Your bouncers taking care of you right?

[–] CrystalJagger@lemm.ee 5 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)
[–] southsamurai@sh.itjust.works 5 points 3 weeks ago

Nice :)

Glad you're safe. It's a tough business sometimes, and the dancers need to have a shield so they can do what they do.
