Had a nurse taking a history ask

Have you EVER smoked, even in the past?

I responded: I had two cigarettes in high school

Oh, that doesn't count.

I mean, you get why though

I mean, not a bad question. Some things just don't seem to make sense.
For example on Friday I was at a psychologist and he did some test with me. There was a question like "Do you need validation and encouragement from friends?" with yes or no. I'd tick yes because I feel like I kinda do to keep going (even if not specifically friends), but when I noted that I don't have friends, he answered "no".

There were other questions like that. At this point, "Do you easily remember phone numbers?" might literally just apply to phone numbers and absolutely no other numbers.

Better to ask I guess.

Before synced contacts... I remembered phone numbers, we all did.

Now, I don't think anybody remembers phone numbers.

Only my own, not even my wife's...

they probably meant habitual smoking, not a few single cigs

That is the most sensible way to ask that. Broad and then granular follow up.

It's better than just one very detailed question that has very specific language and would be needlessly complicated

"Yes, that's me, the big baby. Now can you help me or not?"

"Did I list stuttering as a symptom?"

I hate the question: "have you ever had bleeding condition?"... Aside from women on their period; Anytime I'm bleeding I would describe that as my condition.

Not a native english speaker, so I have no Idea what I'm talking about but I'd assume this question is more to check for a clotting issue, i.e. Did you have a bleed that just didn't stop.

I went scuba diving recently and had to sign a form saying that I have never suffered from a range of symptoms in order to participate, and some of them made sense like “unexplained fainting” or “serious heart conditions” but also on the list were “headaches”, “bleeding”, and “dizziness”. I checked off all of them just to not cause any issues but I really felt like the form should have been more specific

I was like halfway through certification when I learnt my constant, unremitting ear pain whilst flying meant I could not clear my ears at depth. That’s a problem, and nobody ever asked about it.

Headaches, no. Fainting, no. But my head will explode at depth, nobody asked. Weird checklist.

I'm sorry, if you ever got a papercut in your life, you can't scuba dive.

Current bleeding could attract sharks?
