This police overreach was first allowed on a trial basis by Labor, and is now being made permanent, and anywhere in public, by the LNP. Apparently the police won't even have to tell the people they're scanning that they're being scanned. Which is a level of bullshit I didn't think even the LNP were capable of.

the bill would remove the requirement for a police officer to notify a manager of a premises before using the powers, or to "provide a notice" to the people who are being scanned

This is just a 'probable cause generator', right? Nearly everyone will have something on them that will set off one of these wands (e.g. house keys) and so this essentially grants cops the power of arbitrary search, as a follow-up to a 'detection'.
