Isn’t the number of trans women in collegiate sport minuscule?

[–] dumples@midwest.social 19 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Its less than measles cases in Texas right now.

It sure is. The numbers vary, because all they have are estimates, but the upper number was less than 100. Though according to GLAAD, that number may be far lower. The president of the NCAA told a senate panel that he knew of fewer than 10 trans athletes, out of 510,000. Even if that number was 100, it is still minuscule.

Its almost like the population of the world that is transgender, let alone GNC, is an estimated 0.01%, or 80 million

and denies women and girls the equal opportunity to participate and excel in competitive sports

Oh yeah, classic Trump, he's all about the equality of women and girls. /s

Kind of true. He’ll gladly make a pass or aim sexualized remarks at all sorts of women, whether they’re random underage girls in a dressing room or his own biological daughter. Equality!

Genuinely asking because I don't know, but isn't fencing 90% technique and skill?

I know arm lenght is an important factor so whyvnot divide it on height instead of gender.

At the club level it's not atypical to see mixed gender, but in the professional level it's split by gender. I think they can get away with it being mixed at lower level of competitiveness because gender doesn't matter as much as in other sports. However, from what I've seen, size/strenght/weight definitely do play a factor in the sport and it does favor men.

Edit: By club level I mean like university fencing clubs. At the club level competitions can be mixed gender or split gender. Anything above club level is split gender.

Thank you :) I appreciate the input of someone who knows what they are talking about.

Arm length can be a factor in foil.
