I just found out that I got banned permanently for saying someone got burned because Trump and Musk failed to pay them. They said it was violent rhetoric.
News and Discussions about Reddit
Welcome to !reddit. This is a community for all news and discussions about Reddit.
The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:
Rules
Rule 1- No brigading.
**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **
YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.
Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.
**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **
Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.
Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.
Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.
That's it.
Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.
Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.
Rule 6- Regarding META posts.
Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.
Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.
If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.
Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.
Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.
Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.
Let everyone have their own content.
Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.
That's pathetic moderation right there.
Just walk away. Reddit has lost its way.
Fair point.
Just got banned not even given a reason, only signed up today. Mods not even willing to discuss the ban. Fucking idiots
Yea actually same happened to me but you're a bit lucky mine is permanent yours is temporary.
Waiting to see. Some others have had theirs go permanent an hour or two after it opened back up.
I don't have context, but you might have been baited into that conversation by somebody whose goal was to get participants banned. The reason I say this is that it's such a strange topic to start with. The two options don't seem to have anything to do with each other, and both options are violent.
All valid points and questions.
It was a news article posted in the r/Wisconsin sub about the kid who killed his parents and plotted to start a violent, extreme right-wing revolution. The headline said something like "Wisconsin teen killed parents and planned on killing the President." In the first paragraph it said "...he murdered his parents, and planned to do something even more sinister." There were a lot of posts questioning that sentence, (like, "why is that more sinister?") and I replied to one of them saying "It isn't, it is the lesser of two evils."
That comment got removed (and I think a LOT of others in the thread) and I got a three day suspension for advocating violence. Calling it evil is not advocating for it. It was brought on by an auto-mod, and the appeal was denied a little too quickly for me to believe it was actually seen by a real human, as they claim.
He was going to start a right wing revolution by killing our right wing President?
His belief is that Trump isn't fascist enough, if you can believe that
Oh lord, I was on that thread in my few hours between bans earlier in the week, yeah that was a weird thread.
I went back to look at it and saw so many missing comments. They didn't show up as deleted or removed. They were just gone as if they never existed. I get cracking down on encouraging violence. But that wasn't what they deleted. What they scrubbed was blatantly dishonest to call a violation of that rule.
I believe it, Reddit has been progressively worsening for years (and it wasn't starting from a good place anyway) the current administration seems to have the site's admins scrambling to remove evidence that could reflect poorly on them, especially with the 50501 stuff now.
There are so many of those type of baiting around political discussion.
reddit is so fucking weird nowadays
The shareholders don't want actual controversial topics, only clickb ait controversial topics.
Expect a permanent ban with no explanation soon
Pretty sure the moderation is all automatic now.
Let it burn
Yeah, they be getting pretty heavy-handed over there nowadays, welcome.
You said it was less evil to kill one person than two? You monster!
I got a 3 day ban because I said it would be cool if a white dude beat the shit out of this white lady who kept screaming racist remarks at a Spanish guy.
Yeah that's... That's a pretty clear cut example of violating Rule #1.
Ok
Like, I get the thinking behind it. In casual conversation it would come of as a fairly rhetorical way of expressing how bad racism is. But in text form, it can (and will to some) come across as actually encouraging violence. You always have to plan for the stupidest people in the group.
Nah, I get it. I meant it exactly how it sounded. I would find it very amusing if a white dude beat the hell out of her. I don't condone violence for most things, but sometimes you just wanna see a dumb sonuvabitch get the shit kicked out of em. 🤷🏻♂️
Plus I've just been in a really dark place for about the past 15 years, so who cares. None of this shit matters in the long run. I really doubt I'll be lying on my deathbed saying, "Man I wish I hadn't wished violence upon that hateful bigot. Now I'll never get to see my meme on the front page of reddit."
Also, sorry for the dismissive "ok" earlier. Sometimes I don't care even more than usual. That was one of em.
While I'm here: fuck spez, fuck the police, fuck Citizens United. Fuck this world and the whores it rolled in on. Bone apple tea, and Happy Easter :-)
Happy Easter my friend.
Temp bans now may results in permabans from the site now i noticed quite a few people posted that they were banned sitewide as soon as their bans lifted. Especially around the site wide purges that began since January
Can confirm. My 2nd ever ban went from 7-day temp to perma in a few hours. 9 year old account, 2 infractions. Fucking pathetic.
I'm starting to duplicate communities here on Lemmy. If they permaban my account, I will start handing out invitations on day one.
Please clone all the most popular subs on Lemmy! Let's make Lemmy bigger than Reddit!
I get that thought, and I don't think that is exactly what I'm doing. Instead I am making an off ramp for some of those communities. I plan on inviting the mods from the r/railroading to mod Railroading@Lemm.ee because they haven't fallen victim of the same automod hell.
I think I want to take a few of my favorite ideas and curate them here. Like, I know of one sub that never took off. I think the only mod got banned or went dark almost as soon as it started. I would like to create that here and start filing it.
Also, I think that is a chance to create specific reasons to entice users over to Lemmy. People frustrated with the unfair moderation of their favorite subs looking for a better way to continue participating in those types of communities. Not a clone, a revival.
Will you be creating any specific porn focused subs too?
No.
my last flagged account was shadowbanned when a mod removed my comment, Im guessing shadown ban includes any "comment removal" for whatever reason now(low karma, low CQS,age,,,,etc).
also the comment removal dumb asf to, it was on ptgcl, where the poster was trying to "joke" but mods and other people took it seriously.
That would kinda suck, but 🤷🏻♂️ fuck it.
It seems that Admins do reviews of temp bans if you violate the most watched stuff you will be perm banned. The top reasons to get banned are violence, anything trans related that contradicts the reddit view of trans stuff, or incivility. Like name calling. Example would be you make a comment to OP or another user - "well you're a fucking asshole".
the rules are so nebulous, you dont know what you can get banned for now. im sure it hast have to do with MUSK Complaining, and the IPO of reddit, hint hint. seems like they are culling accounts to discourage "read only" not log in and comment in subs.
Come on, what's not to understand about no violence. It doesn't matter what the situation is. Could be factual or hypothetical you can't endorse, call for, or even comment on any act of violence. The lucky ones get a temp ban. Most are simply permanently banned site wide
Her parents obviously either hit her too much or not enough, and we can't undo stuff from the past, so the only answer is more violence. Just in case.
