since alot of the trekking happens on planets

As they're going on a grand adventure about many star systems, I think "Galaxy Quest" is a more apt name.

Maybe but they do travel to other star systems frequently. From our perspective trapped on Earth they do travel to the stars. Maybe that's why they call it Star Trek.
