how the fuck does a guy gain control of the regulatory agencies overseeing the industries he works in, and then proceed to fucking lose money? this is up there with 'bankrupting a casino' levels of stupid

[–] jecxjo@midwest.social 4 points 6 hours ago

The problem with all of those in Trump's circle, they all are good at destruction while having absolutely no real talent in business. Aside from providing funding, Elon has in no way brought any sort of business skill to grow his companies.

He lost money because he showed he is a Nazi and had no plan for how to actually take advantage of taking out regulators beyond the idea he has no rules anymore.

A lot of online grifters like to make it out like manipulating people is some kind of deep, dark, esoteric "dark jedi" skill.

Nah, it's easier than almost anything else you can do, but most people don't even try because they have self-respect, decency and an innate resistance against lying and lying and lying directly to someone's face over and over and doubling down when challenged.

That's really all it takes, is the ability to lie. If you can lie, you can manipulate your way all the way to the top, because people broadly do not assume someone else will do this so easily.

My father was a narcissistic personality a lot like Trump or Musk, he lied and lied and lied and made millions and then lost it all, because... as you could expect, it was all built on lies. But it does work. I've seen whole board-rooms of people pretending to be adults listening to my father's spiels about financial nonsense and Christian beliefs and then throw checks at him. The fact that people in power are so easily swayed should terrify us all.

Hmmmm, would a high suicide rate of billionaires be beneficial to society…

Nah, I prefer the Luigi method.

If you want something done right.

[–] BreadAndThread@lemmy.world 10 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah, I check the stock daily. They're doing fine because every cunt in the world keeps buying.

I'm doing my part by being as rude and mean to any tesla driver I can. They need to know nazis of all types are hated.

Absofuckinglutely. I do the same.

Watch this video of Elon Musk being booed for 7 minutes straight at a Dave Chappelle show https://mastodon.social/@LupoLaLupo/114242322785596710

Elon would be very depressed if you saw it https://www.mercurynews.com/2023/11/08/elon-musk-almost-needed-sfpd-wellness-check-after-breakdown-getting-booed-at-dave-chappelle-show/

Do your part!

It's depressing how much headlines can deceive. This is /r/politics all over again, with the most "technically true" statements that get people excited but the results you expect from reading the headlines will never come

[–] SolidShake@lemmy.world 6 points 7 hours ago

hey. stocks do NOT reflect profit. a stock is not what makes money it's just a share % of the company/investment. just because stocks go up does not mean a company is making profit. there is a HUGE difference! please understand that, thank you.

[–] Th0rgue@lemmy.world 7 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

Tesla stocks skyrocketed when Musk looked like he was unoficially elected as the new president. Now that he's got all the files he needs via Doge and he's backing out, they went back to normal growth.

[–] leadore@lemmy.world 23 points 8 hours ago

Tesla's stock price going up or down is a completely different matter than company earnings. The report is on their actual company profits, which are down 71% -- meaning they aren't selling as many cars. That's a big deal. Let's keep making sure that owning a Tesla becomes completely socially unacceptable.

Tesla reported lower than expected earnings on Tuesday, with first-quarter profits dropping 71% on much lower sales of electric vehicles.

[–] iridebikes@lemmy.world 7 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

The issue is less that they've returned to normal growth and more that they have lost countless future sales. This is only the beginning of Tesla's woes.

[–] kerrigan778@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 8 hours ago

Sure... Maybe... People have short memories. Over a million people died and tons of people voted to reelect Trump.

[–] blarth@thelemmy.club 1 points 6 hours ago

Profits have nothing to do with Tesla’s stock price, unfortunately.

Let's bring the bourgeoisie down before it's too late. Every. Single. One. Of. Them. Accountability for the traitors to humanity.

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 14 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Mush is an easy target. We're have a harder time getting a handle on Bozos. We need some spine in the government that can tax some fuckers.

To be fair, he did make a prediction before the election that the DOGE cuts will cause some financial pain.

[–] sik0fewl@lemmy.ca 7 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Hopefully he shorted Tesla.

End of Tesla. Let's do it.

[–] VampirePenguin@midwest.social 2 points 6 hours ago

If we break Tesla, we break Elon. Keep the pressure on!

[–] Viskio_Neta_Kafo@lemm.ee 3 points 7 hours ago

Fuck Elon, I hope a drowneds in a 10ft pit submerged in his own cum.

[–] Duamerthrax@lemmy.world 2 points 7 hours ago

Maybe he can call up Adrian Dittmann to cheer him up.

[–] letsgo@lemm.ee 2 points 7 hours ago

Oh no, how awful! Quick everyone, let's all go out and buy a Tesla to make him feel better.

[–] aceshigh@lemmy.world 19 points 12 hours ago

But consequences aren’t supposed to affect him. That’s why his identity is wealth.

[–] Sam_Bass@lemmy.world 26 points 13 hours ago

Too. Fucking. Bad.

[–] Professorozone@lemmy.world 11 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

Oh no, I feel really bad for him... Anyway....

Are you sure this one fits in? Why, of all the communities, choose this one specifically?

[–] MtMcK@lemm.ee 59 points 14 hours ago (4 children)

Because Elon being made miserable is something that most other people would consider to be uplifting - I know it certainly made me happier to read it

Don't worry, he'll just take more ketamine and he'll be fine!

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 39 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Has he tried not being a nazi bastard?

Unbelievable that TESLA's shares skyrocketed after this catastrophic earnings.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 6 points 8 hours ago

What's also unreal is the stocks going up whenever Musk makes a promise. He just now said he foresees total self driving by year end. Even a casual observer like me has seen him fail to deliver, again and again and again.

Guess investors know this and also know the stock will bump whenever he lies. No one thinks they'll be the one left holding the bag.

[–] Uppp@lemm.ee 4 points 9 hours ago

it is called market manipulation; any other company stock would have plummeted after such report; it is a meme stock

[–] gamer@lemm.ee 1 points 7 hours ago

It's their loss. These people are deluding themselves into thinking that the Tesla brand will bounce back once Elon steps away from DOGE. They're going to lose a ton when it either tanks again after Trump raises tariffs again just for fun, or when the company goes bankrupt because nobody is buying their cars.

[–] Jumpingspiderman@lemmy.world 3 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Gee, I wonder if he will get so depressed he tops himself?

[–] cupcakezealot@lemmy.blahaj.zone 78 points 17 hours ago (10 children)

he's depressed because as a millionaire he made slightly less money

i'm depressed because i'm queer and autistic and a rich evil fuck in government is killing queer helplines and putting autistic people on kill lists.

we are not the same

I hate the schadenfreude journalism. I will never meet this guy, I don't care how he feels any more than some random South Dakotan. The reason he's relevant is his outsized impact on government and the country, tell me about that.

That's what you get for earning value with memes instead of with true quality. It won't last.

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 107 points 19 hours ago (7 children)

these contrived reports of him quitting politics or being depressed to try to get some sympathy and stop the stock selling are pathetic. He's never cared about anyone else, even his own children, and he still absolutely does not. He's a spoiled psycopath who thinks he can manipulate people.
