Great shave today. I have hd this plate on the shelf for quite a long time. It performed very well the open comb can be a bit aggressive but no issue this shave.

Peachy Sunday Morning

  • Brush: Zenith r/Wetshaving exclusive MOAR BOAR (31 mm × 57 mm bleached boar)
  • Razor: Thiers Issard Le Dandy
  • Lather: Ariana & Evans Peach & Cognac
  • Aftershave: Ariana & Evans Peach & Cognac
  • Fragrance: Imaginary Authors Saint Julep

Peach & Cognac is a rare A&E scent that doesn't burn my face, and it's vaguely boozy happiness in soap form. Sweet Saint Julep completes the drink theme.

Peach & Cognac is a rare A&E scent that doesn’t burn my face

I'm a big fan of Peach & Cognac. Great scent. Both The Undersea and SoCal Hipster give me a mild feeling of burn. For me, it's not bad and doesn't persist. No issues with Kaizen or St. Barts (both of which absconded after my wife used them). What do you think causes the burning?

What do you think causes the burning?

Unsafe levels of fragrance oils would be my bet, since that's the only thing that changes between the different scents.

L'Orange Verte and this are great: Not a tingle. St. Barts burns me, but others use it without issues. Turkish Coffee was like a that scene in Fight Club with the chemical burn, so I passed it around (with fair warning and informed consent of the victims) to u/Semaj3000 and u/Scorpio93x and it burned them too.

I don't buy A&E anymore since then. I don't want to support this business practice

I thought, maybe, it was a particular fragrance note. Shawn Maher has managed to get high scent strength in the Seaforth! series. Higher than most of the A&E soaps I have. But I've never seen a complaint about Seaforth!. I guess there's an art to knowing what scent notes can and can't be pushed.

Welp, I think after using Soft Heart the past few days and switching to Excelsior today... I prefer Excelsior. Such a good lather, and Cologne Russe is just great.

Followed up with Woodshop for some reason, and I love it.

I used a new-to-me lotion product, and I think this is going to be a good one. We'll see how my skin feels in a few hours. This product comes out of the tube pretty thick, but a tiny bit goes a long way. It's not greasy and absorbs quickly which is surprising based on the thickness of it. It's similar to Declaration Liniment in texture, but without the greasy feel.

Liniment without the greasy feel sounds great!

Excelsior is a great base for sure👍

  • Brush: Wolfman WRB2 Bronze w/AP Shave Co MiG 26mm Premium Hybrid

  • Razor: Filarmonica 13 Novodur 13/16" Para Profesionales Full Hollow (Straight Shave 370)

  • Lather: Barrister and Mann - Seville - Soap

  • Post Shave: Barrister and Mann - Seville - Aftershave

  • Post Shave: Thayers - Rose - Toner

Seville is wonderful and I had a great shave this morning with my Fili 13's September edge.

Even though I have a bunch of brushes, and rarely talk about them, I'm having trouble moving away from this Wolfman brush because of the MiG knot. Until now, the ultimate synthetic, for me, was the Wald synthetic (I have 3 of them), and I'm also a big fan of the Motherlode knot. I have the G5C and G5A knots, and prefer a little less backbone than they provide. But, the MiG Premium is in a class by itself. Now, Andrew (u/apshaveco) was kind enough to choose one from stock specifically for this Wolfman handle, but my impression is that the choice was made for aesthetics. From a performance perspective, I'm guessing all of the knots are just this good.

Yankarang

  • Brush: Zenith r/Wetshaving exclusive MOAR BOAR (31 mm × 57 mm bleached boar)
  • Razor: Thiers Issard Le Dandy
  • Lather: Wholly Kaw Club Yanka
  • Aftershave: Wholly Kaw Club Yanka
  • Fragrance: Declaration Grooming Bangarang

I bought Club Yanka over two years ago when I saw it in an SOTD of u/InfernalInternal and it's a fun warm scent I can't really classify. The nutmeg keeps surprising me in a good way.

Bangarang has nothing in common with Club Yanka as far as I can tell, but it paints a similarly playful image. Nutmeg, vanilla, and florals can play well together, as it turns out.

I'm really enjoying the Dandy. It's not as large and flashy as my favourites, but it's a nice medium sized hollow ground with plenty of audible feedback, a pleasant and ergonomic geometry, and a pretty, no-frills design. Functional (which I mean as praise).

My backup Moar Boar is still a little greedy and hogs lather, but that was to be expected (This is only shave number 4, and I didn't do anything to break it in faster, not even test lathers), and it's already soft and pleasant to use.

Zenith ❤️❤️;

I'm enjoying the decadence of digging through my den and trying an old or new software combo twice every day.

FTFY

Couldn't agree more with this sentiment. I'm not organized enough to pick "old" and "new" each day, but am enjoying not being tied to just one setup for the day.

Apparently, you managed to get the one TI without manufacturing issues. ( Oh, wait, I've managed to get two ;) )

Almost like there's a pattern of quality work 🙂

Sorry, that misunderstanding came from the you you fixed. I'm not tying myself to an old and new each day

  • Prep: warm water
  • Razor: Greencult GC 2.0 IV plate
  • Blade: Voskhod
  • Brush: TGS Galaxy 26 mm
  • Lather: Declaration Grooming - Unscented
  • Post Shave: Thayer's Aloe Vera toner; Pacific Shaving Co. Caffeinated ASB

2-pass face shave. Not that this was a bad shave but... Well, this is super dull. Unscented soap is basically shaving just for shavings sake; it turns traditional wetshaving back into a chore.

It helps me to wetshave my head a few times; but for my face I should use everything else! Really, if you take away the aromatherapy aspect of wetshaving, it becomes rather pointless to me personally. It also reminds me of the time where I was suffering from a Covid nose and actually couldn't smell or taste anything. Everything seemed boring and bland... Not the nicest memory on a Sunday night.

Stay safe everyone, hope you'll have a nice start into the new week!

A very comfortable evening shave. I brought the Black Beauty out to play and enjoyed it along with BaM's wonderful take on sandalwood.
