A majority of people surveyed had an overall negative perception of the U.S., marking a steep decline from last year. America’s reputation took a particularly massive hit in EU countries — perhaps unsurprisingly, as U.S. President Donald Trump has called the bloc “horrible,” “pathetic” and “formed to screw the United States.”

yea, make the whole rest of the world an enemy and there'll be no one left to be loyal to except dear leader trump. and the simple minded gullible broke brainwashed maga cultists who have never left their tiny bumpkin town lap that shit up like hogs at the trough

"Using Isolation" on the Power and Control Wheel. We're in an abusive relationship with the president.

I hate nazis. The US elected one, so the majority are nazis.

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

The majority of the country didn't vote for him. That's some IDF rhetoric.

[–] LordWiggle@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (2 children)

Not voting is passive compliance. IDF are nazis too.

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Also to be clear, I was calling you the IDF. "All Palestinians are Hamas"

[–] LordWiggle@lemmy.world -1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Why though? I said the majority voted for Trump, not all Americans. When you don't vote, half of your vote goes to the one you don't want, so basically you voted for Trump. I'm actively fighting nazis but you call me a war crimes committing nazi. Wtf dude. You are clearly dillusional.

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago (1 children)

The majority didn't vote for Trump, dude.

[–] njm1314@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Yes it did. If you didn't vote you were voting for Trump.

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Ah yeah, I forgot the only two options were to vote for Trump or to not vote at all. I also forgot that voter suppression is fake news!

This is so ignorant I have to assume you're trolling. I thought non-Americans were supposed to be the smart ones..

[–] LordWiggle@lemmy.world -2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Now you are just making assumptions and are putting words in my mouth. It's clear Americans are not the smart ones here. Calling someone ignorant while being ignorant yourself is Trump textbook: blame your errors and shortcomings on someone else and claim you are the smart one. Classic, well done👌

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

You are ignorant of our elections if you think the majority of Americans voted for Trump

[–] LordWiggle@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Almost 64% voted. Off those voters 49.8% went to Trump. Not voting effectively gives away half of your vote to the winner, as not voting for the loser strengthens the winner. So almost 32% of all Americans casted a vote for Trump and 36% of all Americans passively voted for Trump by not voting for Kamala. 32% active voters and 36% non-voters makes 68% who have put Trump in office.

Because Americans have their weird imperial system, let me explain what this means: 68% is more than half, it's ~2/3 of a whole banana.

First off, 64% of eligible voters voted. Not like we had any widespread voter suppression issues in left-leaning communities or anything, right?

And what about those ineligible to vote? Anyone convicted of a minor offense can lose their voting rights. Can you guess which group of people gets disproportionately charged with felonies for weed and the like?

I'm not absolving the lazy and/or protest non-voters - fuck them. And fuck the Democrats for not doing something about the voter suppression and not demanding recounts in the questionable districts.

You're a casual observer who has only seen the bombastic headlines from big media outlets and haven't actually followed the political situation in the USA for the past decade

Those are some bold and ignorant assumptions, but expected coming from an American.

When you don't like Trump and his regime, or the fact that even "the left" is already pretty far right itself, or the extreme inequality, the corruption, etc. then do something about it. When there are so many people who actually want change, why are people just complaining online instead of actually doing something? When Trump supporters weren't happy they fucking stormed the capitol, and they were just a small group of weirdos. But you claim most are unhappy with Donny. But people won't do anything more than complain online and protest in front of a Tesla dealership.

[–] glimse@lemmy.world -1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

It's not bold and ignorant when you're demonstrating it

You know what they said in 1945 in Germany? "I didn't vote for him", "I didn't know", "I was just a part of the system", "there was nothing I could do".

You claim less then half voted for Trump. Of those voters there are now many with regret. That makes most unhappy with Trump. But no one does anything. But maybe the time isn't there yet, maybe there's time when he turns the US into a North Korea style dictatorship. Waiting for things to solve itself also helped for Germany during the 30's right?

It's easy to see why almost every US bank and businesses has avoided Trump like the plague that he is and why he owes so much to Putin.
