It is, just made from turkey. Much leaner than pork bacon.

I know, thats why I said "it's not bacon" because bacon comes from pigs, not turkeys. What you have there is formed turkey paste.

Maybe they're Muslim or Jewish or they want to eat fewer calories?

[–] imsufferableninja@sh.itjust.works 9 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

The "why" doesn't matter. It's not real bacon. It's turkey strips

[–] TheFriar@lemm.ee 1 points 1 week ago

Why does this entire distinction matter? You’re like the dairy industry saying oat and soy mills can’t be called “milk.” Who tf cares

[–] starlinguk@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

I see plenty of pork products referred to as bacon when they're from the wrong part of the pig.

[–] the_riviera_kid@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Maybe, but that doesn't make this sadness bacon.

This supposed to be food porn not food crimes

much maligned - avocado toast

I could malign the rest of it too, if you want, for balance. It would be so easy.

I love avocados, but can't say I've ever liquified them then drizzle on toast...

[–] southsamurai@sh.itjust.works 12 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Not the way I've ever had avocado toast.

Are there a lot of differences out there that I haven't run across? Legit, I've never gone looking for regional variations or whatever.

The first way I had it was so good I haven't changed it significantly. Avocado, chunked up and gently mashed with some lime, salt, pepper, and sometimes finely diced onion. A poached egg or two on top. All that on toasted rye.

Sometimes we'll swap out the rye for homemade sourdough. Sometimes we'll add some minced garlic to the avocado, and/or sprinkle some paprika on the egg.

Basically, it dresses up the avocado without fully turning it into guacamole.

That was a very polite and drawn-out way of telling OP that their avocado toast looks like shit, lol.

And the eggs. Everything looks like it came out of a package and assembled, maybe reheated. Texture is important, there isn’t much here. Plus we also eat with our eyes.

I wouldn't say it looks bad tbh. Very simple for sure, but that's not a bad thing

Look I just appreciate people post food here. Don’t stop posting food here, but this particular breakfast is the opposite of porn.

As someone who normally has coffee and smokes for breakfast I would eat this.

I've already unsubscribed from here. I'm not Gorgon Ramsay, and I don't need the negativity that people are giving.

[–] atlas@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 week ago

that is some real thin-skinned bullshit you're on. the food isn't even bad, it's just a bad angle for a pic that got worse with the use of flash. if you had this in natural light with some calming colours around it (like a brown table) i guarantee you it wouldn't look like the same plate.

either way, best of luck to you homie.

I'm sure it was great but I gotta say this arrangement of foods and the lighting and the white balance have come together to make the weirdest image. It's somehow really unreal. It's like an artist's impression of food. I think it's mainly the colour and lighting, the avocado is somehow so green it looks almost fake, and the bacon is somehow purple and then the unexpected left turn with the boiled eggs when my brain saw "bacon and eggs" in the title and built an expectation for the typical fried eggs.

Anyway, this is no critique of the food, hope it was good, it sounds good. The image is just somehow hilariously incongruous and strange.

Limp ass bacon, bruh

[–] Zahille7@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

That's that precooked bacon

[–] Geodad@lemm.ee 2 points 2 weeks ago

That's turkey bacon. It doesn't have as much fat, and doesn't get as crispy.

[–] Drbreen@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

It's bacon and egg war! Home made bacon with eggs on home made wholewheat bread for breakfast.
