my top three picks would be:

  1. sugar and sugar
  2. sugar and sugar
  3. sugar and sugar
[–] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 8 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

So, the Nutella stripe down the middle?

*unless they used garbage sweetened peanut butter of course, then it’s 9 sugars.

i get youre trying to say that its too much sugar, but technically its the same as a normal pb and j, simply with different flavors. its not like he used 3x as much spread than he normally would.

but yes.

Truly a mind like this should be curing cancer.

[–] ExtantHuman@lemm.ee 18 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Crunchy and creamy are textures, not flavors

[–] tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip 12 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Not flavors alone, but crunchy has whole pieces of nut, changing the ratio of nut to other ingredients and adjusting the flavor.

I'm over here with a pistachio butter and apple jelly sandwich. Shit's fire.

[–] kogasa@programming.dev 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I understand those are food words but I'm incapable of picturing those things in combination as a food item

[–] PillowTalk420@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

Pistachio butter is a PITA to find. I had been looking for it every time I was in the aisle with all the nut butters since I first saw the movie Gamer and the kid who controls Gerard Butler mentioned wanting it. I finally found some and it's everything I hoped it would be.

I have to imagine the jam and Nutella combo in the top middle is a little cursed...

[–] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 9 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Not if they chose "tart cherry" or raspberry. They both go very well with chocolate, including Nutella.

[–] ChicoSuave@lemmy.world 7 points 3 weeks ago

Strawberry jam and Nutella is like a very rich chocolate dipped strawberry. The only real cursed combo is grape jelly and Nutella

[–] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 6 points 3 weeks ago

Honey & Nutella sounds even worse to me.

[–] angrystego@lemmy.world 6 points 3 weeks ago

Jam and Nutella is generally awsome, like fruit with chocolate.

But it is only 6. Crunchy vs smooth doesn’t taste any different.

[–] Kaboom@reddthat.com 6 points 3 weeks ago

There's a small difference, but big difference in texture

[–] ReluctantMuskrat@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

The crunchy forever crew here disagrees.

[–] over_clox@lemmy.world 10 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

This is almost worthy of calling food porn.

Tell me you wouldn't eat that shit, and I'd just say sorry for your peanut allergy..

[–] ObtuseDoorFrame@lemm.ee 4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Peanut butter is literally my favorite food but I wouldn't take a single bite of this thing. There's like 40 grams of sugar here. I ain't 12.

[–] over_clox@lemmy.world 7 points 3 weeks ago (4 children)

Fine, more for me!

Honestly I haven't had a PB&J in probably over 10 years, but I'd sooo eat that sammich!

Too many flavors to taste good.

[–] over_clox@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (7 children)

The only thing it's missing is bacon.

Ever had a bacon donut? Yes, that's a thing, and it's surprisingly good.

So, of course I'd try that sandwich even with bacon on it.

[–] RizzoTheSmall@lemm.ee 3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Aw mate, bacon maple syrup pancakes. 😘🤌

[–] over_clox@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

Stahp! You're making me ~~horny~~ hungry!

This is very 'Murican. I'd feel sick after just a few nibbles of that.

[–] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 16 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

pbj became popular during WWII due to rationing. after the war it continued on and is pretty unique to the United States. it's become somewhat popular in other countries but is a daily meal for many Americans to this day.

making fun of it would be like making fun of the Japanese for eating rice, or the Scotts for eating haggis, or the Ukrainians eating borscht.

mocking people for food of their culture isn't cool or funny. it may not be what you would eat, but I bet you eat some stuff that's pretty fucking disgusting to me too.

[–] Contentedness@lemmy.nz 5 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

I enjoy a PBJ, it's a great combination. Have to say spreadable marshmallow isnt something I've come across before tho.

[–] southsamurai@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Tbh, I am not a fan of the marshmallow fluff. But I've had a pb&mf sandwich before, and it isn't as absurd a combination as it seems.

It's called a fluffernutter sandwich.

[–] mr_unfamous@lemmy.myserv.one 2 points 3 weeks ago

I like to make what I call a true "PB N J" Peanut Butter, Nutella, Jelly.

Its probably not an original idea, but damn if it isn't amazing lol

[–] Contentedness@lemmy.nz 2 points 3 weeks ago

Awesome name for a sandwich!

[–] mdd@lemm.ee 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I remember it was child (about 45 years ago). Haven't seen it since then.

[–] mr_unfamous@lemmy.myserv.one 3 points 3 weeks ago

You can find on at Walmart in the baking section. Or, ateast you can in Texas.

[–] southsamurai@sh.itjust.works 7 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

Where's the marmite? Or vegemite, either is acceptable in this situation

[–] Stamets@lemmy.world 24 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Neither is acceptable, you who tiptoes in the pale moonlight with the fucking devil

[–] southsamurai@sh.itjust.works 4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I have to agree, tbh

One or the other is mandatory :)

[–] Stamets@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)
[–] southsamurai@sh.itjust.works 4 points 3 weeks ago

Totally justified

[–] andros_rex@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Marmite and butter on a nice piece of toast 🤤🤤🤤

We're not trying to fuck the sandwich up with shitpaste.

[–] the_riviera_kid@lemmy.world 6 points 3 weeks ago

This looks like over stimulation in sandwich form, also I must try it now.

[–] Lucien@mander.xyz 4 points 3 weeks ago

Needs bananas

[–] Psaldorn@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago

Needs a marmite strip.

Maybe chilli jam too

[–] LovableSidekick@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Like an alignment chart, but more delicious.

[–] TheGiantKorean@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

Marshmallow + crunchy PB is obviously Chaotic Evil.

[–] synapse1278@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

My personal favorite that I discovered recently: aioli - sriracha

Of course, I use this in the context of a sandwich, with something in between the slices, e.g tomato, cheese, pickles. It works great as grilled cheese too!
