Driving home yesterday afternoon at about 2:25 down Double Jump Road ( a Redlands country type road ) doing 80 in the wet behind a small "box truck". Notice that the small hatchback in front of the truck is indicating right to pull into his drive.

I back off, box truck doesn't notice and is heading straight for small hatchback.

Box truck notices at last second, slams on the brakes, goes left, hits grass, tries to correct.....boom smacks into the power line sideways and ends up on his side down a three metre ditch.

Many helpers and he climbs out looking ok.

He's then talking to someone on the phone as I call the cops.

He seemed totally fine but it was quite a stack and I imagine after the adrenaline wore off he would be damn sore. Lots of other cars n utes pull up. I tell the cops I'm bailing as I'm in a precarious spot. One car came flying by at full speed.

Cops are supposed to be calling me back.

Well I'll remember that for a wee while.

You'll remember that for a while...

Some years back I saw something similar on the Mount Lindesay Highway (90kph).

Falcon slowing to turn off to the right (on a road doesn't even even exist anymore), and a ute following behind obviously wasnt watching and run straight up the back at full pelt. Tray full of tools and parts goes flying as the ute bounces off to the left, Falcon all bent up and now sitting in the oncoming lane.

Both of them hop out of their vehicles having a minor freak out. I drove the Falcon off the road (well, kinda... the arse end bounced half a dozen inches off the ground each wheel rotation so it more hopped than drove) and helped old mate push his ute off the road and get all his bits off the highway. Traffic was banking up pretty quick and you could hear the hard braking going on so was only a matter of time before another stack happened.

About a dozen other cars had pulled up by then so I just left contact details and headed off. Always wondered how that played out.
