All this trying to win over the racist vote and managing to not be racist enough for them, while at the same time being too racist for your original supporters.
What a stupid strategy.
General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.
Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.
Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
!ukpolitics@lemm.ee appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(

Labour trying not to emulate fascists in the hopes of votes challenge: impossible
Okay, apologies for the repetition, but I feel this requires it:
This isn't 'Labour'. This is from the Blue Labour campaign group, membership: four MPs.
Actual Labour, the leadership and the government, is currently in the process of strengthening the Equalities Act!
Strengthening the Equalities Act... unless you're trans
We don’t really know their intentions in that space, which is a problem in itself. The change in guidelines was caused by a Supreme Court ruling on a point of law, which is politically independent.
Given that Starmer thanked them for the "clarification", has said that he doesn't believe trans women are women, and he - and Labour - are entirely in a position to do something about it (like saying "actually this isn't right so we're going to take steps to correct existing legislation"), I think we do in fact know their intentions in that space. I'm certainly not giving them the benefit of the doubt when it's my right to exist in public that is in question
Certainly fair enough, but this really hasn't been a problem with just Blue Labour – see eg. "Restoring control over the immigration system"
edit: oh and how could I forget Starmer's position on trans women: Starmer does not believe trans women are women, No 10 says
Blue Labour are turning out to be a bit like Farage and Reform. The right-wing media will give them a platform out of all proportion with their actual support... until they've had so much coverage that their support catches up. Every time the govt say something they'll be a Blue Labour comment.
All my life I’ve been the type to begrudgingly vote the lesser evil to prevent the worse evil from winning.
But I can’t tell the difference between them. Labour have just told me the don’t care if disabled people like me live or die. I cannot vote for them again. I wonder how many others like me there are.
All those people running away from the US to the UK are just gonna find the same level of fascism in a few years—and no EU access. Sorry chums, you made a lateral move.
Morgan McSweeney is unironically one of the biggest threats to British democracy and the longer Labour keeps him in the decision making, the closer to fascism this country will go.
McSweeney is very bad, but he's not part of Blue Labour and this didn't come from him! It came from the four (count 'em!) MPs who call themselves the Blue Labour Campaign Group.
MPs who call themselves the Blue Labour Campaign Group.
Given the significance of colour in party politics.
Using the name "Blue Labour" seems to be an open attempt to break party rules about supporting another party. While getting away with it.
These folks need to be treated as the Tories they claim to be.
You're right, my mind put his time leading Labour Together as Blue Labour. Doesn't help that the media only talks about Blue Labour in reference to the man, though there is apparently some cross pollination between the two groups:
[Blue Labour], which is reportedly working with Jonathan Ashworth’s think tank Labour Together, wants to see the Government shout louder about what it is doing to remove illegal immigrants, as well as invest more in northern England. Bassetlaw MP Jo White is said to be the group’s convenor.
