Brah $380.. if it cost more than the next hit why would any addict pay?
Your options become either go on more hardcore drugs that are covered still, go back to your doc and hope he gives you more opioids sending you back into the addict spriral where you become hypersensitive to pain again and need even more hardcore stuff, or rock up at your local emergency ward and throw yourself at the systems mercy.
Pretty grim options really.
Jesus.
Do you have any more info about this? The drugs name, any pointers for digging up info around the privatisation? Your right, it's crazy that hasn't come up, that's information people need to know - imo it's a major erosion of the public health system if they're privatising things like this.
I'm so sorry for your loved one - hope you guys are ok. You're not alone in that shock.
There are a couple of different ones, in particular Buprenorphine for them.
(Just fyi I believe it's possible to edit titles on Lemmy, so you might want to do that so anyone who only reads the headline gets the full news.)
Old habits die hard. It's great to have some actually modern features in this style of forum website that don't suck.
Do you have any more details? This seems to indicate they are just no longer funding private clinics https://nuaa.org.au/opioid-treatment-programs-1
All I have is the personal experience from my loved one and a news article I found about it being defunded.
This is definitely not a private clinic, its state government run with Queensland health employees.
