Hey everyone,
I'm currently in the process of setting up a server primarily focused on heavy computational tasks and I'm exploring my options. The key requirement is a high CPU power with an emphasis on energy efficiency and a substantial number of cores.
Here's what I've been considering so far:
- Orange Pi 5: Known for its ARM architecture, this seems like a viable option for low power consumption while still offering decent performance. However, I'm curious about its scalability and performance in a server setup.
- Low Power Ryzen CPUs: Ryzen processors are renowned for their balance of power and efficiency, especially in multi-threaded tasks. But I'm unsure about the best models for a server environment where power efficiency is as crucial as computational power.
I'm leaning towards a solution that can scale well with x86/ARM/RISC architectures. The goal is to achieve the best possible performance per watt.
I'm open to suggestions and would love to hear about your experiences or recommendations. Have any of you set up a similar server? What hardware did you use, and how has it performed in terms of power efficiency and computational capability?
Thanks in advance for your insights!
