Well the punches keep rolling for the ol' girl.

Just learned yesterday big C. in the bowel. Looks like IV.

The last 8 months have been hell for her ever since that fall and now completely unrelated.. this. Pretty limited therapy when pushing 80yo. She'll be going in for an op but chemo/radio is out of the question. Working out the spread basically means just working out (guessing) how long.

Universe can be cruel.

e: Thanks all for the kind words.

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 9 points 1 month ago

Fuck, i'm sorry.

His lordships's grandma got hit with pancreatic at 96, there's something incredibly cruel about life pulling this shit that close to the end anyway

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 6 points 1 month ago

Fuck. This sucks. Thinking of you and your family at this hard time ❀️

[–] SituationCake@aussie.zone 6 points 1 month ago

I’m so sorry.

[–] just_kitten@aussie.zone 6 points 1 month ago

Shit, that's awful. It's like an avalanche of medical suffering. I'm really sorry mate. I hope you'll be able to spend some quality time with her in the coming months

I'm so, so sorry mate ❀️

Oh shit. I'm so sorry.

My mother was in my dream. We were looking at family photos. I lost most of mine in the bad years.

I miss her dearly.

Gosh I feel like I've been a total shut in this week with what happened to me, catching up on work and the cold weather. Winter hibernation mode is activating big time. I've got a birthday dinner tomorrow night and actually looking forward to some social time with friends, I really need it.

[–] tone212_@aussie.zone 8 points 1 month ago

Much better today! My head is still sore to the touch where I was hit but the headaches are reducing. Still a bit sensitive to super bright lights and loud people but I was never a fan of either to begin with haha

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 7 points 1 month ago

Have a great time. You deserve it.

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 12 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It's miserable weather, but at least I can now be confident my heater is up to the task.

I've now done the setup for the outdoor security cameras, I just need the weather to improve enough for me to go outside and mount them. It's just a couple of screws to clamp on to the gutter so it shouldn't take too long - the hardest bit will be deciding the best postion for the one in the back yard.

Unfortunately my leave is over and I have to go to work tomorrow. My first night shift in ages, hopefully the novelty of meeting a bunch of new people and learning how to do my job in a different place will stop me falling asleep.

Erin Patterson, a proven liar, sitting on the stand and claiming that everyone else is lying about her and what she said is actually wild.

[–] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 10 points 1 month ago (1 children)

There's a bloke in the US like that and he's currently the President.

If you believe your own lie, it'll manifest itself as truth.

She keeps asserting her lies until she gets completely cornered by the evidence and then changes the story and comes up with some excuse for the lies. Excuses like, oh I was embarrassed, oh I got confused, etc. I think she did it.

[–] Nath@aussie.zone 8 points 1 month ago (2 children)

My wife has been fascinated by this case and listens to the daily podcast about it. She's gone from "oh she definitely did it" to "maybe she's innocent, I can't be say beyond reasonable doubt" after this week's testimony. So Erin is clearly doing some good for her case on the stand.

I haven't been following the case closely, but I listened to one recap podcast a week ago where they describe the multiple phones, the missing phone seen on camera that wasn't provided, with the one provided to police being factory reset first, and taking her dehydrator on CCTV to the tip after telling police she didn't have one - it was all pretty damning.

She says 6 were made, one each for her guests, one for her and one that her child ate part of minus the toxic mushrooms which she scraped off.

3 people dead, one seriously ill, one made herself puke because she ate too much cake and one unscathed. Something doesn't add up.

Had a dream that guests arrived early and we didn’t have the cheese I planned to serve. And another absolutely awful dream (like fucking WHY brain. WHY did you show me that?!), but I’ll choose to think about the cheese.

[–] underwatermagpies@aussie.zone 7 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I think the universe is telling you that you need to buy Emergency Cheese.

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 6 points 1 month ago

Cheese shopping is on the cards for this evening!

That was invigorating. I got to start my walk with a game of Pick Up the Rubbish Bin and Chase Down my Rubbish Strewn Down the Street. Just in time too, the truck was collecting it just as we got back.

My new laundry rack and remote control for the garage have both arrived. I think I'll need to move the van to access the controller to program the remote, I might wait until it's not so windy to do that, I'm likely to lose half the contents of the garage if I open the door.

Man I miss cooking and eating. I wasn’t β€œgood” but enjoyed doing it and my health has ruined all that

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 7 points 1 month ago

then buy simple food that needs no prep, like fresh fruit, healthy yoghurt, nuts and dried fruit,

make healthy platters like CEO does

it's not cooking per se but it is good πŸ‘

and hugs too, can't have too many hugs 😊

My dentist was late for the appointment. Her car was updating and she was left stranded for a bit. Both funny and sad.

elon just broke up with trump and it’s the best popcorn

[–] MeanElevator@aussie.zone 7 points 1 month ago

A few months ago, was having drink with a mate and we both predicted that the Musk-Trump love affair is gonna be gone by mid year.

Should have put some money on it with a betting agency.

A while ago I confiscated a couple of vapes. Tonight we tried them out. Fuck. No wonder the kids are addicted to this shit.

It's pretty bad these days. They can get the disposables pretty much anywhere without ID.

The government got rid of the good guys and opened the gates to the blackmarket people to sell to kids.

very windy, house creaking πŸ«₯

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 6 points 1 month ago

The wind seems to have died down a bit here. The feels like temp is now 0.3^o^ which is the warmest I've seen it all day!

I'm so tired but I don't want to waste my Friday night. I haven't even had the weekly doughnut fries.

Might take a longer nap with Fluffball.

Happy International Donut Day

Yesterday was International Sausage Roll Day

Wind's howling

Edit: I'm going to brave the outdoors anyway. Feels like temp is still below zero out there, so if you don't here from me again assume I turned into an icicle.

[–] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 8 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Checks the clock "oh shit it's almost 9:30!" Feels very, very old suddenly.

In today's edition of flat-pack assembly:

One laundry stand

Very basic, but functional and very cheap.

One bathroom cabinet.

Lots of little pieces involved in this one.

Let’s say you’re at the supermarket; Is it against social norms to open a few punnets of strawberries and gather only the ripe ones to put in the punnet you eventually purchase?

Edit: also no, I have not done this personally

Dear sox, curling up next to me in a cute purry lump is LESS likely to get me out of bed to feed you

As if I didn't already have a problem getting out of bed in the mornings...

[–] SituationCake@aussie.zone 7 points 1 month ago

I have a splitting headache. Had 2 Panadol and a coffee about an hour ago, has dulled it a bit, but it’s still there. Today will be unproductive.
