Yes lol, pulling that out sucked, and putting in it's replacement was worse.

That’s how you know it’s enterprise grade. How’s your back?

your going to want more than 24gigs of ram, good thing ram is dirt cheap. IMO esxi 8.0 better, it's free for home use too. Funny, i just got one of these free too. going to upgrade ram to 256 and 8 10tb drives and run unraid.

I've got a few hundred gigs of ddr4 ecc in a box, this is getting a hell of a glow up lol

Don’t forget to setup the iDRAC controller so you can run it fully headless.

I managed this sever while it was deployed in a Doctors office, I'm very familiar with iDRAC (and this one specifically lol)

For a sec I thought the whole thing was a rack and thought that’s a giant machine, but then I realized is just a massive tower lol

Nice!

I am running a T320 for my media stack, has 64GB RAM and about 5TB disk space.

Just discovered this morning that it has the worst possible CPU in it (E5-1410 4/8 core), found a E5-2470 V2 for $10 with free shipping, that will give me 10/20 cores.

Also run a R710 with 192GB RAM with 8 SSD's for a game server. Got my hands on a pair of X5680's for cheap which gives me 24 cores to play with.

Homelab is fun :)

Thing looks like a prop from a 90's low budget sci-fi flick.

Made a WDS frankinserver out of one of those, it worked great!

I want something like this to use as a workstation with PopOS

[-] Kazhmyr1@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

That would be one hellova workstation! Also, woo PopOS! That's what I use on my laptop.
