Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). 3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. 4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

So, did he watch Civil War but not see the ending?

[–] Sam_Bass@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago

Course he does, he's a moron. You literally cannot say anything of an inflammatory nature without giving him ideas

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago

Taco the chickenshit now suggests, "someone please arrest this man." Why won't you have him arrested dementia Donny? Did you forget why again.

I would like to point out a subtle piece of "reporting" that is not only inaccurate, but I believe in there in an attempt to "both sides" the issue and appease Trump.

Newsom and Trump officials exchanged barbs all weekend after Trump federalized and deployed the California National Guard in Los Angeles amid violent anti-ICE protests.

The protests, as evidenced by the livestreams of LA, were almost entirely non-violent. Violence shown was almost entirely ICE committing the violence, such as when they intentionally shot rubber bullets at an Australian reporter in order to scare her away from reporting.

Saying the protests were "violent" does nothing more than give Trump justification for sending troops in the first place. This is intentionally misleading reporting that does nothing but give Trump more cover, possibly in an attempt to "both sides" the issue in case Trump's goons come knocking.

The news sources (even the "leftist" ones) are all owned by billionaires.

The real war is a class war, the minorities are used to make us fight with each other.

There are no major leftist news sources in the United States

[–] andros_rex@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

DemocracyNow! has been pretty good for a long time. Although maybe you wouldn’t call them “major” - but they were on cable TV for at least some time where I live.

Amy Goodman got arrested at the 2008 GOP convention and the Dakota pipeline. Very good bona fides.

The administration needed protests that weren't peaceful. So they supplied the violence.

I want to preface this by saying that I support the protestors and any measures they deem necessary, but what you are saying does not match up with what I’ve witnessed. A live streamer who goes by @LordHito spent several hours streaming the protests after dark. Dozens of protestors seemed to have homemade smoke grenades, as well as rocks and anything else they could hurl easily. Fires were started and windows were broken.

That said, I think those are all entirely justified. The other option is to sit around while democracy dies, and that is unacceptable. There has no doubt been collateral damage, but so it goes in struggles against the government.

100%, the police have been more violent than the protestors and are the true aggressors, but many of protestors have not been the flower children you seem to imply they are. I won’t go so far as to say most, but definitely more than an insignificant amount.

I wish them the best in their struggle. They fight for all of us.

and california should be a seperate fucking country.

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 1 points 14 hours ago

I want to see California form a pact with Oregon and Washington, and then form an alliance with Mexico and Canada. Then MAGA America will be surrounded on 2/3 by hostile foreign nations.

It also means the entire west coast port system would be cut off to MAGA America, and they'd have to pay whatever taxes, tariffs, fees, etc. that California demands. Or they could just ship everything through the Panama canal, at least until CaWaOr (still workshopping the name), can sign a deal with Panama to prohibit MAGA America from using the canal.

[–] Vinstaal0@feddit.nl 3 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Most states probably should be a separated country, I am just worried about states like Texas who will cause more issues that way. You can still do something like we do in Europe with the EU, or Shengen countries etc

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 1 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Not states, most couldn't survive, but America could certainly Balkanize into several separate entities - New England, Midwest, South, Plains States, West Coast, Southwest, etc. some states like Texas and Florida might be able to survive as stand alone economies, but most couldn't.

[–] Vinstaal0@feddit.nl 1 points 2 hours ago

They could survive if there was no tax over transactions between states, it wouldn’t make a lot of economic difference.

How do you think something like Lichtenstein exists? Yes they are decently rich, but they just import a lot

13 million people in the LA metro area. Like 100, at most, are being violent. Yes, we need to deploy the marines to control 100 people. This is Trump grabbing power and his personal vendetta against Newsom.

Soooooo, he's willing to throw Elon under the bus, the richest dude in America (maybe world, don't know), and he's willing to go after governors that make him look like a terrible leader. All of these other oligarchs, what makes you think you'll be special and he won't do the same to you? Answer, he will.

[–] Zagam@lemmy.blahaj.zone 32 points 2 days ago (2 children)

This time it's different. He likes me in a way he doesn't like the others. They were all toxic but he knows I'm true. They made him be like that. He knows I won't.
