Bats are cool

Bats are the only true flying mammals. There are over 1,400 species of bats, and they can be found on nearly every part of the planet. Not only are they cute, they are also important...

Studying how bats use echolocation has helped scientists develop navigational aids for the blind. Without bats’ pollination, seed dispersal, and pest control we wouldn’t have bananas, avocados, mangoes, agave, or cacao… that’s right, bats bring us tequila and chocolate!

and if you wonder why it's called a "tailed tailless bat:"

The common name of the bat is typically given as the "tailed tailless bat". This is because the species belongs to the genus Anoura, commonly called the "tailless bats", yet it possesses a tail. However, the name is arguably somewhat misleading, since only three of the other seven species of "tailless bats" genuinely lack a tail.

Isn't "tailed tailless" kind of an oxymoron?

The name reminds me of a book series I read as a child, where a wolf called his human companion "Tall tailless".

Fun memories :)

Your comment reminded me of a short scary story I read as a kid. I think my version was a bit different from the linked one, though.

Gah I wish I could spend four hours every night hunting for delicious dumplings and burn it all off with my high resting metabolic rate
