Ok, I like coffee, and I like cotton candy, and this is cute, so I almost hate to criticize it.

But isn't the cup just going to get all sticky? The bigger the cup, the quicker it will cool, and the more coffee you'll need to fill it. You'll only get a few "raindrops" of sugar before the steam stops coming off the cup. That's barely any sugar, especially for a large cup. What do you do with the rest of the cloud? Are you supposed to smoosh the rest into your cup? Because that seems like too much sugar. Or do you share the cloud with people at your table?

I think this concept would be better actualized as part of a dessert. Maybe like a hot peach cobbler or a sticky toffee pudding. Something that stays steaming for a minute, and you want to wait for it to cool, and it won't need sugar but the little drops of sweetness won't make it too sweet.

Upvoting for pudding

So I was thinking about the size of the cup vs stickyness but then sorta thought that hopefully the steam would be localized to the water area but that is likely wishful thinking. I mean the concept is so darn cool.

I think a rim of syrup around a coffee cup might be pleasant, actually

[–] themeatbridge@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

I could see that. Like salt on the rim of a margarita. And if you don't move the cup too much, the sugar above the handle probably won't melt.

…is Singapore not real life?

[–] themeatbridge@lemmy.world 12 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I haven't been there. So how could we possibly know?

[–] Jimbabwe@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Just how deep does the Singaporean conspiracy go???

[–] Albbi@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 weeks ago

Almost as far as the New Zealand conspiracy. Some map makers are trying to get the truth out by leaving New Zealand off of maps, but they keep getting criticized for it.

[–] Obi@sopuli.xyz 1 points 2 weeks ago

Lmao what an accurate description.

[–] Zorque@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

Yes, but this post is not.

To indulge in some pedantry, the cofee isn't hot enough to melt sugar. Instead the water vapor condenses and collects on the sugar, dissolving it.

In many places in America they put sugar in coffee

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

Hmm sugar on the handle.

[–] SW42@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago
