"Yea idk checo, why did you leave door open last lap?"

"Eepy"

[-] DV8@lemmy.world 14 points 1 year ago

Celebrity flag waver standing there looks like he's being forced to go wave that flag by his mom.

[-] TheBlue22@lemmy.blahaj.zone 13 points 1 year ago

THERE IS NO FUCKING WAY! ABSOLUTE MADMAN

[-] omgarm@feddit.nl 4 points 1 year ago

Checo makes the same mistake twice.

[-] TheBlue22@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 year ago

Absolutely. Why did he leave the door wide open, IN THE LAST LAP?!

Alpine is being weird with two drivers willing to fight eachother is entertainment.

[-] TheBlue22@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 1 year ago

Anyone else furiously drinking coffee to watch a race that should've been convenient but for some reason isn't?

[-] bestusername@aussie.zone 7 points 1 year ago

Nope, it's a very convenient Sunday afternoon race for us Aussies, doesn't happen often.

[-] TehWorld@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

The explanation that I saw was that Europeans will be able to wake up and have a cup of coffee with the race. Apparently there are more fans there.

[-] Jozav@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

The explanation I saw was that the timing was adjusted to traffic needs on the strip.

[-] hydrashok@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 year ago

Still not sure what they were thinking with the schedule. It’s crazy that it’s more convenient to watch the races live that are on the other side of the world than one a single time zone away. I’m just planning on starting the replay tomorrow morning. Don’t have the stamina to stay up that late anymore!

[-] JJROKCZ@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

You’re also American I take it? I’m about to go to Wally’s and grab a slushee and an energy drink just in case I need em. It’s starting midnight my time so not bad but if the ending goes to 3 that’s when I’ll need some caféine.

This is Charles Leclerc big opportunity to convert a pole into a win. I truly hope he makes it. The guys needs it (and deserves it) after a mostly forgettable year (save for the poles achived).

I also hope this is an entertaining race, and we see a lot of good racing from people in the mid-field or out of position. C’mon Las Vegas! Surprise us in a good way!

4 way fight for the 1st, this race is shaping up to be fantastic.

Edit: OK maybe 3 way fight

Leclerc will burn his tires, and perez will get him for the 2nd.

If the tires fall off too much, he might get got by piastri as well

Edit: piastri seems to be falling off, so it's probable lec could keep the 3rd

[-] TheBlue22@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 1 year ago

Welp. I am impressed by this race. Much better than I expected. As good of a first race as you can get.

[-] TheBlue22@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 1 year ago

This is so forced and awkward lmfao

[-] hagelslager@feddit.nl 5 points 1 year ago

I have no clue who I'd vote for as DOTD. Great work for Perez, but it's more a return to form from bad form than above and beyond IMO.

Also, poor Charles, he keeps making mistakes like this.

Perez had a great start. Sainz lost it (lost grip?)

[-] Photographer@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Expected this to be the biggest most exciting celebrity packed grid walk. It did not deliver.

At this point there could be one of several winners. Interesting!

[-] TheBlue22@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 1 year ago

It's up to you now perez. FINISH THE MISSION

[-] ImpossibilityBox@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

I absolutely love the cool down car. That's great!

[-] TheBlue22@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 1 year ago

Bieber looks unimpressed

[-] TheBlue22@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 1 year ago

Max feels like he's on the back foot here. This is going to be interesting.

[-] June@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago

Shockingly good race. I was very wrong about this venue. So very wrong.

[-] Dmian@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

5s for Russell

I knew that corner would have a victim. The braking zone in a bend when it's this cold is difficult as hell

[-] TheBlue22@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 year ago

WOW! Amazing move by Charles

Good morning for the European viewers, good night for those in the US.

[-] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

5s time penalty for Max? Man's gonna have a 30s lead by the end of the race.

[-] Dmian@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

The race is way more open than expected. But it’s mostly strategic now

[-] June@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

This might give Checo a win

[-] Dmian@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Perez flying

[-] DV8@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

What a weird place to do a podcast.

[-] Dmian@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Albon 5th, Sargeant 6th!

[-] DV8@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Ah man, oil remnants on the even side of the starting grid is no good.
