Fuck cars, yes but this is just trashy and awful on another level.

Because if a true, red blooded 'murican doesn't ride his pickup everywhere, the gays win.

[–] JohnnyMac@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

It's Nantucket, not Oklahoma.

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 days ago

To justify buying an excessive and unnecessary truck.

[–] BossDj@piefed.social 6 points 2 days ago

When they break about their fourth they go "we got to drive right up on the beach!" It sounds cool, and image is all they care about.

Benefit of the doubt, I hope some people with disabilities that couldn't typically make the trek find this situationhelpful

These are people who are compulsively attached to their cars like a comfort blanket because they've literally spent decades never going anywhere which doesn't involve being near their car. Like, they will drive to the airport, get on an airplane, and then rent a surrogate car the moment they land.

Hope they at least keep the engines off.

[–] AceBonobo@lemmy.world 21 points 2 days ago (1 children)

But how are you going to keep the AC running?

By pulling the automatic carbine's trigger ofc

Hey OP, did you film this? Mind if I upload it to Wikimedia Commons? Seems like a nice case study here lol

[–] Davriellelouna@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

I didn't film it. The source is Nantucket Current.

Disgusting view

[–] mEEGal@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago (3 children)

what an abomination,

yet cynics will still argue its better to do this than to build a parking lot near the beach

[–] huppakee@feddit.nl 16 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Well if you have to walk from the parking lot to the beach you'll burn calories.

[–] Pechente@feddit.org 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

What about a parking lot with a Mc Donaldβ€˜s? Seems like a good solution

[–] huppakee@feddit.nl 2 points 2 days ago

Only works without mcdrive unfortunately

[–] socsa@piefed.social 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Hear me out - what if we made like big cars that could fit dozens of people and had the government buy a bunch of them and use them to ...shuttle... people between urban infrastructure and the beach. We could call it a "scooty rooty transportation station"

[–] mEEGal@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

super dank, perfect for Muricans !

but sounds like socialism, so no

A couple of parking spots for several km of beach is reasonable, but it only works if you car is human-sized, not obese-triceratops-compliant

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 8 points 2 days ago

How many of them got stuck?

[–] renamon_silver@lemmy.wtf 7 points 2 days ago

What an ugly place.

[–] Tikiporch@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

I like the Chevy Van trying to fit in with the murder aesthetic.

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

Did people do this 20 years ago?

[–] oce@jlai.lu 3 points 2 days ago

I hope half is not actually equipped for sand and will stay stuck.
