The new managing director that just chimed in on that post is the best handling of public outcry I've ever seen. Will be very interesting to see what he delivers.

Thanks for pointing it out. I really like matrix and after reading the thread I'm grateful for the community member to actually take a look at whats going on and am eager to hear what the managing director will answer/do about it :)

I just checked in on the thread and that managing director is now someone I admire. Really encouraging stuff!

I'm really glad you commented. Your comment made me go read the thread linked and I'm glad I did, because this is some serious stuff.

It was always a problem how close the matrix.org foundation and Element were. Hopefully these are just misunderstandings and the transactions have good explanations.

I'm really glad the Foundation now has a managing director, and I hope we'll get an honest answer once the weekends over.

Sad to see Matrix go like that

Interesting but doesn't feel very instant-messagey

Lol that uses Email and PGP. Afaik that is way less secure than element. Also it spams your normal inbox so you do need a new mail account

I knew matrix was fucked the instant I was scrolling through Element for rooms to join and most of it was the kind of crypto crap you'd see on subscribestar. Then I saw one for "toddlercon" and noped out so fast. Like what the actual fuck. Not even telegram is this bad.

It’s an open protocol. That’s like complaining about the internet because you were able to find objectionable websites. Matrix doesn’t pay anyone to police everyone who decides to run a server.

Actually Matrix is used in many FOSS project. GNOME, KDE, IPFS, F-Droid, OrganicMaps, DistroTube... Just going through popular.

[-] Pantherina@feddit.de 1 points 11 months ago

Calling Distrotube a FOSS Project is funny haha

Lolicon but with babies. Often considered indefensible even by pedophiles.

That’s why I run my own server can defederate or block instances that allow that instant block!
