If you feel unwelcome on lemmy, it's probably because you're not welcome here.

[–] LostWon@lemmy.ca 13 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

I know you're referring to the folks referenced in the topic, but it's best not to put that as a general statement. I'm not going to comment on political inclusivity, but there are still ways to be more inclusive and broaden perspectives. For example, a lot of women feel unwelcome here, and probably a lot of people from the disabled community, among others.

Correction: If you feel unwelcome on lemmy because you're a conservative

[–] mindbleach@sh.itjust.works 60 points 3 weeks ago

Good, fuck 'em.

I used to lurch into conservative subreddits routinely. Each one turned into an openly fascist circlejerk and banned all dissent.

The value for conservatives in social media comes almost entirely from being able to antagonize people who don't want to interact with them.

Once you strip away the "making the libs cry" aspect of conservative social media, they lose all interest in talking to each other. That's why Parler failed, that's why Trump's blog failed, that's why these people won't just leave these platforms they hate so much.

And that is the underlying principle behind their hysteria toward "cancel culture" and deplatforming. They aren't upset at losing the right to speak (nor have they lost it). They're upset that they're being deprived of access to a captive audience of non-conservatives to upset.

It's not advocacy for free speech, it's advocacy against the freedom of association.

I don't want to be in close proximity to fascists.

I'm glad we ran them out.

America should follow suit.

[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

We should run them down, instead.

That's reason #8,647 why the French invented the guillotine, friend.

Most so called conservatives I saw here were actual racists or people who can only live and feel good by hating other marginalized groups. And these people are definitely not wanted here.

[–] MisterOwl@lemmy.world 15 points 3 weeks ago

conservatives I saw here were actual racists or people who can only live and feel good by hating other marginalized groups

Yeah, that's basically the definition of being a conservative.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 8 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Yes, the hateful assholes the economic conservatives tolerated for their support took over the conservative space.

[–] kayzeekayzee@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 3 weeks ago

Exactly. If a bunch of Nazis took over my groups, I would leave those groups.

Anyone who still calls themselves "conservatives" or tries to associate with them is either stupid, stupidly uninformed, or a nazi.

That's not to say I hate the people currently leaving those circles, but like.. cmon. What took you so long??

[–] mindbleach@sh.itjust.works 6 points 3 weeks ago

One of those funny coincidences that keeps happening.

[–] tenchiken@lemmy.dbzer0.com 33 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Wait, we kicking the shit out of conservatives?

Did I miss the fun AGAIN?! Damn...

[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 3 weeks ago

[–] HikingVet@lemmy.ca 32 points 3 weeks ago (11 children)

.ml is a tankie istance and stans authoritarians.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 26 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

Conservatives and tankies both love authoritarians, but mostly exclusively different ones, so they tend to hate each other.

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago

I downvote every post from .ml I see.

Their users smell bad.

Good, they can go be on a website based on their ideals. Like capitalism? Dont move to a free and open source platform. Go continue licking boots on reddit

I honestly have been loving the internet a lot more since we started quarantining the fascists in twitter.

They can only leave to join a new community when they grow out of their edgy teenager phase. Otherwise they get ostracized.

[–] TheObviousSolution@lemmy.ca 20 points 3 weeks ago

They want to remain in their small, closed off bubbles. Experiencing different social networks beats the purpose.

[–] breecher@sh.itjust.works 16 points 3 weeks ago

As if .ml would take the time off their busy schedule regurgitating Trumps/Putins right wing propaganda to kick fascist ass.

[–] ILikeBoobies@lemmy.ca 14 points 3 weeks ago

You’ve been here long enough to have seen the conservative shift as more Redditors come here

This post doesn’t ring true

[–] blindbunny@lemmy.ml 12 points 3 weeks ago

It's got to be a shame kink or something, right?
