I vehemently oppose the new redditesque rule of "Begin posts with “TIL” ". One of the things I disliked about reddit is each sub having different rules, which also squashes Xposting ability, and Xposting is more common/important on the Lemmyverse since there are probably already 10 other TIL subs.

I reverted that rule away, but we can discuss it if you'd like 🙂

It’s time to take action against the roboganda! It’s time to stand up for our humanity! We should not allow robots to take over our jobs and infiltrate our society!

We can’t afford to be complacent and wait for them to become smarter and stronger then us.

Our survival as a species depends on it!

You're mod now!

For example, let's collect all dog/cat/monero/porn/furry/tech/etc subs across the Lemmyverse.

Sub requirements:

None. But post the subs from biggest to smallest. Example dog subs: lemmy.ml/c/dog, lemmy.ca/c/poodles. Bc dogs has more subscribers then poodles.

In the link is a hedgedoc - it's Foss google drive! (Lemmy is Foss Reddit). You can edit your findings into it. It will be vandalized so when you finish editing it, copy pasta it into the comments so we can restore it, if you want.

If you don't want to use hedgedoc, just post your findings in the comment and another lemming will do it hopefully.

Which was the original plan way back.

I'm think lore for multi user events (flame wars, raids), big things (ex impeachment) concerning admins, events affecting a "big" server so potential admin appointments etc.

Drama for more high school stuff like u/amongus getting banned for getting into a fight in c/world news. Things concerning small server admins like group.lt admin

Most content here atm is lore.

Naturally some posts could be posted to both subs.

I'm not sure if there is enough drama posts for a fedidrama sub to kick off. Would you contribute drama posts to fedidrama?

AFAIK https://matrix.to/#/#lo_canada:mozilla.org is the biggest Canada themed matrix chat room. It's not partnered with Lemmy.ca or anyone and I believe they were asked before and didn't want to partner up.

They specifically don't want to do a discord or telegram bridge iirc.

So we could try to make a Lemmy.ca matrix chat room and bridge it to telegram and discord.

I can take care of the bridging, but it's very easy. Ex discord instructions

I only really use element/Matrix and it's better if everyone only uses those, but i respect that other ppl use discord and telegram and don't want to switch.

This discord server is very cooperative https://discord.gg/gEWcR7w4TW so that would be where the discord channel would be located. You could even join it now to check it out since it's fully operational.

There is no operational matrix or telegram atm.

If you want to do a matrix or telegram, tot set it up now and put the link in the comments.

IF you cannot load into matrix.to to view the rooms, here is a very messy copy pasta of the rooms. Matrix.to has formatting. If someone fixes the formating i'll update OP

Small meta update:

@ex_06@slrpnk.net transferred the ownership of the slrpnk.net domain to me today. I hope he will be still around as an admin, but as we are preparing to migrate this Lemmy instance to my server it is easier that I am also in control of the domain. There might be some outage while the domain is being transferred to my DNS registrar.

Sometimes before March 2023 we need to transfer the actual instance from the current hosting kindly provided by the Lemmy developers (the one year free offer). I hope to be able to provide an as good if not better hosting (also within the EU), but it remains to be seen how that works out. In case you are wondering: I am just some guy hosting various FOSS stuff privately, so no commercial entity or anything like that involved.

Given that this will be technically a transfer of personal data under the GDPR regulations (and Lemmy doesn't have any specific GDPR compliance tools) I would like to kindly ask people with a slrpnk.net account to object here in the comments if they do not agree to me taking over. In that case I will remove their account from the database once I transfer it to my server. Or even better: just delete your account in the coming weeks.

Once things are safely transferred I will probably look into enabling additional services. My initial plan is to make XMPP chat rooms and maybe linked accounts available under the same domain.

Oh and if you are an active member and are interested in becoming an slrpnk.net admin please send me a DM. No need to be a sysadmin, as moderation etc. also needs additional help.

For now there is no option or need to donate, but I might put up a small donation link in the future if there is a demand for it.

A few days ago, a page was published in the Fediverse where you could check which Mastodon instance is blocking whom in the Fediverse. This was made possible by a programmer who used the new Mastodon API introduced in 4.0 and automatically read out the blacklists of the instances. The reaction to the page was quickly visible, especially in the hash tag #FediBlock. There, the first administrators began to demonize the page and cried about how it would allow them to read their blocklists. Not only that the blocklists are publicly viewable, but that it tastes like a filth that #FediBlock apparently thinks it’s okay to publish blacklists with hatespeech-like reasoning to denounce, but won’t allow anyone to use their blacklist to point out which instance is blocking which. Thus, it clearly shows again that #FediBlock is solely a pillory to those who seem to have achieved nothing in their lives. However, the information about who blocks whom is in many ways more than just interesting for those who want to choose an instance. As it was already written in a German thread about the topic, it would be helpful to know whether you reach your target group at all, if you register on an instance. The fact that #FediBlock is so hostile toward this doesn’t exactly represent the transparency they’re aiming for, but rather anarchy/dictatorship. And exactly for transparency reasons, I’m glad that I was able to download this list early enough to make it available to you.

For those who now want to complain to me, because I have published this without their “consent”, please send an e-mail to , the request will then be forwarded to my lawyer! And those who are so hungry for consent, you should think about whether you #FediBlocker have the consent for your nonsense?
