A 1991 ad for Renovation's SEGA Genesis games.

At first I laughed—but they weren’t wrong. We do have 8-way TVs now. Just run eight emulators side by side and tile them across your screen.

Hell, today’s budget TVs are bigger than the one in the ad. Dan was ahead of his time.

Strange that Dan's favorite games are all things I've never heard of.

Dan is into shooters, and there are some pretty well known ones in that list.

I wasn't into shooters in those days, but I've since become a fan of the genre and the Megadrive has some really good ones.

Gain Ground and Arcus Odyssey both got many hours of play on my Mega Drive back in the day. :)

NES and SNES were much more ubiquitous and often the exclusive consoles for a lot of games, so Sega was coming up with it's own line of games that weren't as likely to enter collective memory or later have movies made out of them.
