Ended up staying down here for an extra night for a bit of timeout alone. Back to it tomorrow.

New day new work trip new tropical soup. Trip 2 of 3 of my six months of bonkers workload and travel. It's very strange to be so busy but doing actually good things. I am so good at survival mode I don't know how to be healthy and successful but I am trying. β˜€οΈβ˜€οΈβ˜€οΈβ˜€οΈ

Slept for 12 hours. Broken up, but still, that's absolutely amazing!!!

I quite like Bananas in Pyjamas. Just living their best banana lives.

Peppa, on the other hand, needs to get in the bin. And die.

[–] TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 7 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I believe Peppa has been banned in China, for promoting 'disloyalty to the regime'. So gets a free pass for that I reckon.

Yesterday was a just about perfect day. Plan on repeating it today, just with less cocktails because flying home tomorrow 😭 πŸ₯Ά

[–] SaneMartigan@aussie.zone 8 points 1 month ago

Went and caught up with a bunch of old friends. Some I might not have seen for 20 years. Played some games. Got another session lined up, new campaign starting with character creation next week. Hmu if you're interested in a monthly LARP in North Fitzroy, 3rd Saturday. Pretty nerdy and lgbt friendly group.

Logies start at 7 pm - thoughts?

[–] imoldgreeeg@aussie.zone 7 points 1 month ago

I shall seek pretty frock pictures on ABC website. And do a lot of "who's that?" Then go back to my life.

Although I am happy Magda subanzski is getting a hall of fame award. Last I read she is pretty sick with stage 4 cancer so this is nice.

Poolside book success: Icebreaker by Hannah Grace. Requires suspense of belief when it comes to competitive figure skating, but a fun, funny read with a very inclusive ensemble cast without feeling forced. 7 out of 10 for making me laugh so much.

Poolside book fail: All We Lost Was Everything by Sloan Harlow. Terrible "romance", annoying characters, horrible twists that had my eyes rolling out of my head. 2 out of 10.

I hate the movie Rubber (2010). I saw it years ago because I thought "oh a horror comedy about a murderous tyre, yeah sure!" And it turned out to be the most boring, pretentious slop I've ever seen; I should have known as it is a French film, but sometimes the French have good horror so I gave it a chance - MISTAKE! I watched it all the way through and just couldn't stop loathing it. I made the mistake of telling my mate at the time, so when I went to see him, guess what he had on πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈπŸ€¦β€β™€οΈπŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ so I've seen it twice and it sucked arse both times.

What's a film or piece of media that gets you irrationally angry?

[–] Force_majeure123@aussie.zone 8 points 1 month ago (2 children)

You know what, FUCK Bananas in Pyjamas

[–] Catfish@aussie.zone 6 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Fuck bananas full stop. Repulsive things.

Coincidentally, I watched a French horror film last night called Martyrs (2008).

There was a comment review on this thread recently about 28 Years Later and how it had no redeeming value (which is a preposterous notion by the way)

and so…

Martyrs (2008) is a movie that actually has no redeeming value. It’s a purely violent and brutal torture porn type film with no real discernible message.

It didn’t make me irrationally angry, just confused. Who was this movie made for? and why? What does this piece of art bring to the world?

EDIT: rage inducing media includes:

β€œReality TV”

β€œMorning shows”

Anything with Tracy Grimshaw and that rubbish

It used to be Paul Higgins doing the weather on the abc.

I had to leave the room.

No Ulthar this weekend, but that's alright because it turns out a friend's birthday was on at the same time. He only ever sends out Facebook invites so I've missed it the past few years. One time I straight up missed it and another year the boys were too difficult to put down.

It was good because I had this gift I'd been meaning to give him for almost two years, so it's nice to finally hand that off.

It has been a beautiful sunny afternoon. I took Mr Woof out for a walk and let him pick the route. Miss Meow helped bring in the washing off the line, which primarily involved rolling around on the concrete under the washing line.

The random crying has stopped but baby girl has learned that being vocal works for things she wants πŸ˜†

She tried whimpering to go outside yesterday, she sooks for the heater to go on, and today she cried for me to unblock the chair and lift her up. (She’s perfectly capable of jumping but I’m trying to spare her knees)

Midnight gnocci was great. I was a bit worried about having to cook the gnocci in the microwave, but it worked fine. I am now gnocciful and ready for the rest of the night.
