Some friends and I had been thinking about going to a Karaoke bar someday soon... I've never done Karaoke, and would basically never be able to bring myself to try. I don't drink, either, so I can't even just slosh myself into singing lol.
An artist and activist I have been working with recently said something during an event this weekend that really struck me, and that was "Embarrassment is required for transformation", and then they immediately belted out Total Eclipse Of The Heart but with the lyrics changed to relate to Horseshoe crabs through a microphone attached to a PA system on a bicycle trailer in the middle of a public park surrounded by strangers... It turned into a group sing type thing and I actually put some effort into loudly singing some of the backing lyrics, which was my first ever time singing in public...
In the shower later that night, I was ruminating over what I would actually sing at Karaoke... I love Foxy Shazam, and already know all of the lyrics, and Eric's singing style is already a little fast and loose, so I felt like I could actually do an okay job, plus some of their songs just get me so hype, it would be perfect... I even started mentally planning to take some walks this week to the end of a pier that's always abandoned with some headphones and practice just belting it out in private.
Then I looked into it, and it turns out the Karaoke place we wanted to go to doesn't have ANY of their songs... So back to the drawing board.
I would have loved to try this one.
