Had a very frustrating conversation with my landlord regarding what he wants to do if I end up buying a house (very unlikely). His response basically boils down to this meme
He seriously expects me to call and discuss every potential purchase with him to ensure the move-out timeline would be "acceptable" to him, like he has some right to fuck about with my personal business.
No, fuck you, I just want a normal clause in my lease that says I can give you 30 days notice and pay a penalty of 1 month's rent like every other lease I have ever signed. You've consistently hiked my rent above the average for the area, done no maintenance to your shithole, and have been basically absent and refused to deal with several issues. I've been your tenant for 4 years without complaint and have just resorted to fixing everything myself because you can't be bothered to pay attention and maintain your property. Fuck you. I'm definitely not renewing my lease when it comes back up, good luck getting the amount you're charging me.

I plan on trying to talk to a housing lawyer or something to understand exactly what my rights are, because I'm pretty sure I could just fuck off whenever, and although I would be responsible for the rent until the unit is re-rented, the landlord has a legal requirement to mitigate losses and provide a good-faith effort to re-rent the property at a reasonable market rate, and I want to understand how those grey-areas are quantified, because I would LOVE to hound him and have him required to report how many showings and applications he's processed and how he is justifying charging the inflated rate for his dump.
Also, I am curious why the number of replies shows 2 more than I can actually see. I don't have anybody blocked, I wonder if it is a Piefed compatibility thing somehow.
