I don't know about Melbourne, but here in Brisbane it's not even the protest's fault. They wanted to use a car-dominated road and were literally told "no, fuck off". But the police won't use every resource at their disposal (including making up "safety" issues) when it comes to public transport being disrupted. Because who gives a fuck about that, right?

To be clear, I think a genocide that our government is abetting is a big enough issue that I'm fine with any and every transport method being blocked. I just wish it wasn't always only public and active transport that gets affected.

I should be clear I'm not blaming the protests, it's just they (vicpol and city of Melbourne) manage the protests and never seem to suggest any alternate route. I'm not aware of the actual discussions though, in fairness
