Mickey's vaccination went well, uneventful. I got some dental treats for him as well, as his teeth are a bit yellow.

He's also 5.95kg, and NOT overweight or fat. The vet looked at him and was like "he's just massive for a DSH" πŸ˜‚

Watch out World! There's a P plater on the prowl! Seriously, congrats to YL, its a big step. And I'm sure you've done your bit in helping her to adult behind the wheel.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'd like to take the credit but it was all her dad's doing.

I sat in the pub today and happy cried twice in the Vic roads office. That's my contribution.

Congraaaaaaaats!!!

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 7 points 1 day ago

HOOOORAYYYYYY!!! Congrats to YL!!!

[–] SituationCake@aussie.zone 3 points 21 hours ago

Congratulations to her!

[–] useless_modern_god@aussie.zone 4 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Congrats you’re lucky. Mine has no interest in driving which isn’t that bad really. Just a bit surprising.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 4 points 22 hours ago

Youngies need to get out and explore while giving us oldies room to breathe.

[–] anotherspringchicken@aussie.zone 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Congrats to YL! Has she done the obligatory maccas drive through yet?

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 3 points 23 hours ago

Nah not yet. Maybe later with a friend. It's pissing down here.

Awful tragedy in Porpunkah. How do people become so far gone into nutter idiotic beliefs. Hope they catch him soon. Must be frightening to be in Porpunkah tonight.

[–] TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 7 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

I reckon the guy will go bush, and won't be found for weeks. And it's a toss up if he will be even more mentally disturbed when he is found or will have calmed down a bit. Searching for him on foot or horseback with or without dogs is bloody dangerous if he's armed and apparently he is. And the local people/cops know this and will be keeping a very beady eye on isolated sheds and eatable livestock in distant paddocks. Never underestimate the bushcraft of nutters like this one cos they are sometimes quite impressively skilled in survival stuff. If it was me, I'd consider calling in a helicopter/drone and using thermal imaging to find him. Then the hard part would become actually catching him without getting shot.

When is that Hunted show coming back?

[–] LowExperience2368@aussie.zone 8 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

My butt is being kicked by whatever is going on with my mental health. The fact that from next week onwards, 25+ sets of eyes will be evaluating my performance at least twice a day, plus the resources I manage to create, is scaring the shit out of me. I'm really worried about not having time to do stuff and not performing. I dislike that I get overwhelmed so easily.

But I am reminding myself that I can ask for ideas.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 4 points 23 hours ago

Also remind yourself they want you to succeed. 😊

Mickey is getting his annual vaccination tomorrow, before he can stay at the cattery when I'm in Perth.

Ugh. Every time I travel to Perth, I always say I don't want to stay for a long time because I hate leaving Mickey and I'm a homebody. So why did I agree to three, almost four, weeks πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈπŸ€¦β€β™€οΈπŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

[–] Force_majeure123@aussie.zone 6 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

As a homebody and recent survivor of a Perth family pilgrimage, you will be tired but it won't be as bad as you think - heck you'll probably even have fun! Mickey will have enough time to make friends and get comfortable, he'll he fine.

[–] TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 6 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

The Kiffness is doing a gig at Northcote Theatre on Thursday 18th Sept. Have just bought tickets. Looks like very fun night.

Thanks for the heads up!

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I totally misjudged my walk timing and got myself and Mr Woof very soggy.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 points 23 hours ago

it's certainly wild out there, the gate swung so hard in the wind it smashed a big terracotta pot near it

[–] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 14 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Had another recruiter reach out for an application I put in yesterday!

Just going to keep up the pace and hopefully something will click in place.

2nd interview at 1pm. Fingers crossed 🀞

[–] tombruzzo@aussie.zone 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It's great things are going so quickly for you. Lets hope the end of the month works in your favour

β€œSo, what I’ve gotten out of this is that we’re selling an unknown product to unknown customers for unknown pricing and we have no idea when or how it’s arriving?”

β€œWell, yes… but the vests have been ordered for the sales team.”

This place, I tells ya.

[–] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

Hey now. Let's not dismiss the power of a snazzy vest!

[–] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

But a vest on it's own is never going to do anything. It needs to be paired with the power of a custom pen and a printed stress ball.

Let’s not forget the water bottle with the printed logo

[–] Gibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zone 8 points 1 day ago (3 children)

2nd interview went ok. I was pretty nervous tbh so if it doesn’t move ahead that’s ok. But the guy did tell me what the next steps would be.

Fingers crossed but I’m still applying to other jobs of course.

[–] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Sending you heaps of good luck!!

Well that was an interesting drive. Had to navigate a set of failed traffic lights, two separate wheelie bins that had blown onto the road, and a small fallen branch. It’s windy out there, take care.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Today I am listening to Jared Diamond, Upheaval: Turning Points for Nations in Crisis

It is interesting so far. πŸ‘The author uses 7 countries as examples on how individuals, societies and countries cope in extreme situations.

[–] TheWitchofThornbury@aussie.zone 3 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

I love his book Collapse - How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed. Really really thought provoking. Wasn't so impressed with Upheaval, but still interesting.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 points 20 hours ago

I will read that one next time. πŸ‘

Interview this morning, the seek post definitely undersold the role. One guy liked me, one didn't. Let's see what happens.

Debating on going into office tomorrow and having Thursday and Friday WFH.

Alternatively, WFH tomorrow and Friday, come in Thursday.

I'll decide tomorrow morning when the alarm goes off I guess.

yay, the painting of the bedroom suite is done. Five pieces of furniture , scrubbed clean, sanded , repaired, then four coats of paint. The chair has been reupholstered, the drawer handles repainted a silver gold colour and all the drawers painted inside and lined with contact.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yo Yarrabyte call ya parents they're worried.
