I'm afraid the PS3 lacks the required laser to burn blu-rays. Linux running under otheros or an exploit is only able to use the Blu-ray drive to read disks.

Damn, guess I gotta find a cheap blu ray drive thst can write then.
Being able to write to a disk requires special lasers. No device designed for consumption only will have a burner capabilities but just have them limited by software.
USB BD drives can be pretty cheap these days, and they double as DVD drives so it's well worth it to pick one up.
The PS3 does not have a Blu-Ray burning laser.
Don't ask me how I know this.
