RULES

  1. Be respectful: no harassment, hate speech, bigotry, and/or trolling.
  2. Encourage conversation in your OP. This means including heavily implicative subject matter when you can and also engaging in your thread when possible.
  3. Avoid controversial topics (e.g. politics or societal debates).
  4. Stay calm: Don’t post angry or to vent or complain. We are a place where everyone can forget about their everyday or not so everyday worries for a moment. Venting, complaining, or posting from a place of anger or resentment doesn't fit the atmosphere we try to foster at all. Feel free to post those on !goodoffmychest@lemmy.world
  5. Keep it clean and SFW
  6. No solicitation such as ads, promotional content, spam, surveys etc.

Ate two meals in questionable condition, spent the night in the toilet.

Last week I pretended I don't have Long Covid anymore and didn't pace myself.

This week, my body said 'nice try.'

Started working at the new job; I quickly learned from coworkers that apparently our positions are not considered employment (academia woohoo), so I don't have access to lots of social benefits that are standard in this country

... to partially mitigate this, I made the dubious decision of writing an application for a highly competitive fellowship that is... due next week. Realistically should have started two months ago but I guess we work with whatever we have. I'm a bit stressed out lol

Decent, thanks for asking. Nervous about an interview tomorrow, but what else is new... What's up with you?

On vacation and my language learning has met with signs, native speakers, etc., which has been pretty humbling. Finding the balance between rest and experiences is also always a challenge. It's also a nice reminder there are ways to live other than the one I'm used to, each with its advantages and disadvantages.
