7. No duplicate posts.
If a source you used was already posted by someone else, the autoMod will leave a message. Please remove your post if the autoMod is correct. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners.
The auto mod will contact you if a link shortener is detected, please delete your post if they are right.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body
For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.
The know MAGA is all about the slippery slope, and if they make it illegal for one group, it will be illegal for almost everybody within five years.

This shouldn't surprise anyone. The NRA (or its political arm) is a lobbying group for the gun industry. Banning any group from buying guns hurts the gun industry.
They didn't complain, or at least loud enough for me to hear, when he banned some gun accessories on his last term. Was it bump stocks or something?

Well here's your answer - they said 2nd Amendment rights are for everyone and due process matters. Sometimes being cynical is just hurting your perspective.
Yah, there's a large difference between cynicism and realism.
They're defending their market, not the rights of trans Americans. If they actually cared about freedom and the constitution they would be uniting every gun owner to march on Washington and demand a president who follows the constitution, you know, the whole THING the NRA was supposed to represent.

Yeah, I fully expect this to be lip service. They’ve been married to the Republican Party for too long, they have too much money they’re going to lose access to if they actually defend a trans gun owner who loses their guns or is denied a gun purchase.
If I’m wrong I’ll be pleasantly surprised, but there’s a reason Pink Pistols is its own thing and not just a club run by the NRA.

For some reason I always thought their slogan was ‘armed gays bash back.’ Maybe I’ve just seen stickers on things of that slogan paired with Pink Pistols logos a lot.
Well obviously, the only thing the NRA has ever cared about is selling guns. They may couch it it reasons like freedom or safety but the real reason has always just been profits.

Also ironically the gun laws that Republicans poke fun at in California are thanks to Reagan.
The Mulford act was passed in 1967, when the NRA was still a nonpartisan organization that promoted gun safety and responsible ownership. In 1977 there was an internal coup that replaced the leadership with a group of second amendment extremists (or gun industry shills) who proceeded to turn the NRA hard to the right.
I wish the NRA continued what it used to be.

As I stated, the change was in 1977, and the NRA became a gun industry shill after that. The comment I was replying to said it had “never” been anything but that, when for the first hundred years it was an overall nonpartisan and anodyne organization.
First shot across the bow at taking guns away from Trump/MAGA dissenters and political opponents. They start with a group they don’t think will incite too many, particularly the generally pro-2A Americans. Next it’ll be gays, then anyone with any connection to antifa, then just Democrats in general.

My sister is looking at rifles now to complement her carry pistol and my friend's wife has OK'd him getting a handgun for their home from this news.
You're one of the largest and most powerful lobbying groups in the country. Let's see them actually put that lobbying to work. Then I'll believe they're actually against this.

So if a trans person is arrested and adjudicated as being mentally ill, the NRA is totally OK with that.
Due process means a trial. If someone murders a bunch of people the NRA will not necessarily back their 2A rights.
Is the NRA normally transphobic? They defend gun rights. This threatens gun rights.
I assume many of their members are transphobic but I think they care more about gun rights.
