Wait, are first 2 steps mandatory? What if I don't have wife and kids, can I still learn arabic?

[–] Winter_Oven@piefed.social 42 points 4 days ago (1 children)

You may divorce and abandon someone else's wife and kids in a scenario like yours.

[–] rmuk@feddit.uk 8 points 4 days ago

If you can't make a broken family at home, store-bought is fine.

[–] bdonvr@thelemmy.club 31 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Arabic is a very fragmented language though how do you decide which dialect to learn? Spanish has a lot of variants too but they're all pretty much still mutually intelligible. I've heard that's not so true for Arabic.

[–] spamfajitas@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Usually if you're learning Arabic for religious reasons, it's going to be Modern Standard Arabic or MSA.

[–] Tar_alcaran@sh.itjust.works 6 points 4 days ago (2 children)

How readable is the Quran in modern Arabic? Or is it translated?

[–] morrowind@lemmy.ml 6 points 4 days ago

It'll help a lot, and you can def read it but to understand it properly you need to learn Quranic Arabic

[–] morrowind@lemmy.ml 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

There are also translations in all major languages of course

[–] Tar_alcaran@sh.itjust.works 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Yes, but Muslims are rather particular about translated versions not reeeeaaally counting.

[–] morrowind@lemmy.ml 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Counting for what? Translations are never going to be as good as the original, that applies to everything, not just the Quran

[–] Tar_alcaran@sh.itjust.works 4 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Ah, it's Muslim belief that the original Quran is sacred and a work of god, but a translation is made by humans, and is thus not the truly correct version and only an interpretation.

Its not that you can't read a version of text in another language, but it won't be the sacred text.

[–] interdimensionalmeme@lemmy.ml 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Funny how book followers think that but obviously the first copy was written down by some human, in some human language, a language that no longer exist because language is like a river and you never step in the same river twice, the same is true for language.

So it's the "perfect word of god" written in the language of some guys from a thousand years ago, if it were perfect word of god he wouldn't have written it in something as perishable as human language.

He tried to deploy his project. Legends say, it's still not live and no one knows what dependencies might be missing.

[–] Masterkraft0r@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

fair enough ^^ although technically one can fix this with the correct tooling (if you ask two devs you get 1241231 answers)

[–] abir_v@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Yeah, outside the joke and old complaint, I've been liking uv for my small Python projects.

[–] socsa@piefed.social 4 points 4 days ago (1 children)

[–] avg@lemmy.zip 1 points 4 days ago

[–] Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 1 day ago

Welcome to Python 3.13's help utility! If this is your first time using Python, you should definitely check out the tutorial at https://docs.python.org/3.13/tutorial/.

Enter the name of any module, keyword, or topic to get help on writing Python programs and using Python modules. To get a list of available modules, keywords, symbols, or topics, enter "modules", "keywords", "symbols", or "topics".

Each module also comes with a one-line summary of what it does; to list the modules whose name or summary contain a given string such as "spam", enter "modules spam".

To quit this help utility and return to the interpreter, enter "q", "quit" or "exit".

Shit I don't have any kids

[–] some_random_nick@lemmy.world 12 points 4 days ago

Adopt some and then leave them behind. Improvise. Adapt. Overcome.

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 12 points 4 days ago

I didn't abandon my kids, but I divorced two wives to make up for it. I'm ready to learn.

[–] MeThisGuy@feddit.nl 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

[–] lemmyknow@lemmy.today 1 points 4 days ago

[–] Maroon@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago
