Adding to the symbolism, the students are all black and it's an MLK event.

So it was cold too.

Those girls look miserable.

[–] ThePowerOfGeek@lemmy.world 108 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (2 children)

They are definitely miserable. Not only are the stuck out in the ~~rain~~ cold with no ~~waterproof~~ jackets, but they also have to listen to Sarah Huckabee.

Edit: corrected my earlier point where I thought it was raining.

The part that gets me is "have to."

[–] ColeSloth@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I agree they're miserable, but they aren't wet and it isn't raining in that picture.

Still, Sarah can GTFO. Then kids damn well didn't want to be around there.

Good point. It looks like it was raining. But probably wasn't still raining when that photo. That poor girl in the right of the photo looks especially cold and miserable. Poor kid.

Not only is this heartless and cruel, but why a dimly lit tent in the middle of a parking lot? It's like the miserable black girls in the back are the focus of the image's optics, which is kinda telling.

[–] atomicbocks@sh.itjust.works 35 points 1 week ago

Any camera or phone made in the last 10 years or so would have auto focused and balanced Huckasans face as the closest subject.

This was intentional on the part of the photographer.

[–] its_prolly_fine@sh.itjust.works 17 points 1 week ago

Hate to be contrary cause I agree the optics are not great. But, it looks like that because of the photographer. The focus is on the girls, the framing helps this too. The exposure helps the most, SH is shadowed on purpose. It's possible it was accidental, getting 2 subjects in different lighting bothe clear and visible is difficult. I'd still think this is purposeful though.

[–] ZombiFrancis@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 week ago

Those optics are intentional.

Increasing hostility right to left: accepting and showing her misery, stoic in the face of it, eyeing SH like “bitch, hurry up”, then finally “I will personally end you, rascist white bitch”.

Fuck Sarah Huckabee

Hey, I seem to remember an appropriate song by Tay Zonday

Never noticed the lyrics, always thought of it as a weird meme. TIL. Also really cool that it's licensed Creative Commons (CC-BY-NC-ND 3.0)

tay is surprisingly active and unafraid to state his opinions, it's amazing to see

Congratulations, you are one of today’s lucky 10000.

[–] BeefandSquints@lemmy.dbzer0.com 31 points 1 week ago (1 children)

This is the sort of shit poor white trash thrive on.

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I don't think Sarah Huckabee Sanders is poor.

No, but the vast majority of her voter/fan base is.

[–] Rothe@piefed.social 24 points 1 week ago

No, but her supporters are.
