This community is focused on games, of all kinds. Any news item or discussion should be related to gaming in some way.

2. No bigotry or harassment, be civil

No bigotry, hardline stance. Try not to get too heated when entering into a discussion or debate.

We are here to talk and discuss about one of our passions, not fight or be exposed to hate. Posts or responses that are hateful will be deleted to keep the atmosphere good. If repeatedly violated, not only will the comment be deleted but a ban will be handed out as well. We judge each case individually.

3. No excessive self-promotion

4. Stay on-topic; no memes, funny videos, giveaways, reposts, or low-effort posts

This community is mostly for discussion and news. Remember to search for the thing you're submitting before posting to see if it's already been posted.

We want to keep the quality of posts high. Therefore, memes, funny videos, low-effort posts and reposts are not allowed. We prohibit giveaways because we cannot be sure that the person holding the giveaway will actually do what they promise.

5. Mark Spoilers and NSFW

Make sure to mark your stuff or it may be removed.

No one wants to be spoiled. Therefore, always mark spoilers. Similarly mark NSFW, in case anyone is browsing in a public space or at work.

6. No linking to piracy

Don't share it here, there are other places to find it. Discussion of piracy is fine.

We don't want us moderators or the admins of lemmy.world to get in trouble for linking to piracy. Therefore, any link to piracy will be removed. Discussion of it is of course allowed.

I purchased Hollow Knight Silksong on Steam recently, but I would like the ability to play it on my Ayn Odin 2 max as well. I am having issues getting it running though, and would like to know if there are any detailed guides out there for my specific device setup.

-I have tried Winlator, but was not quite able to get it running.

-Gamenative did not want to boot, and I think they are still trying to work the kinks out.

-I have Eden emulator, but would need to purchase the game again and also I don't know if there's a way to transfer saves between Steam/Eden.

-The only other option I'm aware of is gamehub, but I think I would rather avoid that one if possible.

Try, https://github.com/utkarshdalal/GameNative . Unlike steam link gamesnative let's you download and play steam games natively on android. I dont know how good it works on handhelds though. Haven't used it much myself.

Gamenative is pretty awesome, and works great for a lot of games. Also, consider referencing/contributing to Emuready https://www.emuready.com/ as well!

Thank you for the suggestion. I did mention in my post that gamenative doesn't work with Silksong yet.

You did mention it, sorry must have missed that. Well You can try Pluvia. https://github.com/oxters168/Pluvia

Gamesnative is just fork of pluvia, the main difference is that Pluvia only let's you play DRM free games. And I checked that Silksong on steam is DRM free.

I'll look that up and see if it works. Thank you.

Pluvia did not work either, unfortunately. It just gives me a error window:

Well, I guess your last option are gamehub or streamlink. There are lots of videos on YouTube explaining how to get winlator working. But I'd suggest just play it on PC. It will be a better experience.

Well you could install the chinese app GameHub and logged your steam account in ^^'

[–] viral.vegabond@piefed.social 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I already mentioned I'd rather not use that one if possible. Thanks anyway though.

I do understand lol I'm not either.

Why not stream it from Steam Link or via Game Pass?

[–] viral.vegabond@piefed.social 3 points 1 week ago

I'd prefer to run the game natively if possible. Streaming is pretty viable, but I'd rather not run two devices and if I'm running my pc I'd probably just rather play it on there anyway.

What issues are you having with Winlator? I got the first game running on it a while ago and I assume the 2nd one should work too, any errors?

I tried using the winlator cmod and it would not register controller input for me. This is the video I was referencing: https://youtu.be/fr9N8lHzU1U
