Has one single company that has made people return to the office ever posted hard data saying why?
Nope. It's all wishy-washy stuff despite hard figures suggesting people are way more effective in the environment of their choosing.
For extroverts, that means water cooler chat and lunchtime foozball, and debates at the whiteboard, so don't discount those weirdos when we all ask for the right to choose for ourselves.
Let the managers' vision be filled with energetic kids throwing paper balls and being dynamic go-getters while we sit in our wonderful riverside offices with our cats and dogs and make the shit do the shit like pros.
No, I guess because it has nothing to do with productivity.
It's usually about justifying costs of real estates or property of commercial buildings.
Big companies usually own buildings dedicated to offices for their workers, maintaining them is expensive, having everyone working from home would mean rendering their properties useless.
So they come up with all possible stupid PR excuses about it, the company I work for does the same, but we employees know, if the company openly told the truth about it, I believe many people would revolt.
The only thing Ive heard that makes any sense and isn't just "the CEO says so", is in-person collaboration. I will say, pretty much everyone I've talked to says "yes, it's nice to have a physical meeting and collaborate in person" however... most of the people I work with besides my immediate team are in other offices, dispersed across the globe.
I'd love to see some hard data that shows the difference. I guarantee they have hard data, but wont share it because it doesn’t paint the picture they want it to. They also had hard data that showed we were vastly more productive during covid lockdowns, even when people only worked during normal hours. Until they told us to come back, then people switched to malicious compliance.

it all goes to show how much leverage the ruling class has over our lives and how much we're at their mercy to comply w it even though it's clearly so much worse at every level.
Well, you can always switch jobs if you want to. There are many good willed companies out there like Weyland-Yutani, Oscorp, Skynet, OCP and many more.
I'm more when to earth so I'm thinking blackrock. Lol
