By “breakthrough”, they mean that when it’s sitting on a flat surface and you accidentally put something on top or push too hard in the middle, it suffers a breakthrough.

Why do they keep going thinner?!? I just want the awful camera bulge gone!

[–] Blisterexe@lemmy.zip 11 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They put the SOC in the bulge lmao

[–] Echolynx@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 week ago

That sounds great for protection...

Next month: outrage over iPhones that bend when you sit down with them in your back pockets from millions of iPhone users who didn't see it coming somehow.

[–] fox2263@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago

I’ve seen this one before

[–] Jumbie@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 week ago

Does this place have a remind me function?

[–] panda_abyss@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Not crazy about this one.

I would like it if the camera bump wasn't 3x the base width of the phone.

That's not going to work in flat wireless chargers, it's not going to sit flat on any surface, and it's so much of a differential a case won't cover it.

[–] ramble81@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 week ago

That’s alright. They’ll sell you the new iCharger designed just for the iPhone 17 for only $99

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Give me a better battery and a headphone jack.

Ulefone Power Armor 24.

22,000mAh. Headphone jack. IR blaster. Night vision camera. 1000 lumen flashlight. FM radio (that doesn't need headphones for an antenna). 60 watt recharging.

It will also serve as a power bank, recharging lesser phones.

Despite 22 hours of streaming video, battery life was 91 hours on my last test. I have no doubt it would last a full week of casual use.

1" thick. 1.42lbs.

That's a beast of a phone, damn.

[–] Someonelol@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Does it come with a removable battery?

I’m waiting for the first phone thin enough to give you paper cuts.

[–] positiveWHAT@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (2 children)

What purpose does the slimming serve???

[–] Crashumbc@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Sales and marketing are based on having something different to sell. (Not necessarily better) They've been running out of things to change.

Phone feels less like a brick in your pocket. I think it's a good compromise to sacrifice a bit of battery for a thinner, lighter device.

[–] positiveWHAT@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

But modern phones already are of adequate size? I don't need it smaller or thinner?

[–] Psythik@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago
[–] shadowedcross@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 week ago

So thin you can probably bend it with your mind like that kid with the spoon.

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I miss my Nextel that I could literally throw across a warehouse and have nothing happen to it.

[–] favoredponcho@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 week ago

You should get one and use it

[–] reddig33@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Don’t sit on it.

[–] wetbeardhairs@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

"All day battery life" OK so 14 hours. Got it.

Garbage.

Number means nothing without providing screentime figures. My phone could last a week if I literally never use it.

[–] reddig33@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

The figures Apple published were supposedly based on letting video play the entire time. 🤷‍♂️

[–] Psythik@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (2 children)

The Z Fold 7 is still thinner.

[–] Echolynx@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That's hilarious. I'm starting to get more curious about the Z Fold... maybe when it hits the resale market.

[–] Psythik@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Grab one once it goes on sale. The Z Fold 7 is by far the best phone I've ever owned.

Even when folded it's still thinner than an iPhone 16, so it's just like using a regular phone most of the time. Then when you need the extra screen real-estate, just open and it's there for you. At first glance you can't even tell that it's a foldable when closed. Most people have no idea until I open it (unless they're tech enthusiasts, of course.)

And they somehow managed to pull this off while still improving battery life. I've never had a phone where I end the day at 50% charge until now (at least not since the flip phone days). It's amazing.

My dad can beat up your dad.

[–] Psythik@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

I would hope so, cause he's dead lol

[–] Jumbie@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 week ago

It’s amazing how many people just love to bitch about iPhones in . . . Places for iPhone news.
