“I think that speaks for itself,” the governor said.

Cox reported that another casing had “Bella ciao” written on it, an apparent reference to a WWII-era Italian anti-fascist song. Another casing had the message, “If you read this, you are gay LMAO,” Cox said.

Additional, unfired bullets had phrases from video games and internet memes written on them. One read “Up arrow, right arrow, and three down arrow symbols,” a possible reference to commands entered on a controller that call in a bomb in the video game “Helldivers.” A separate casing read, “Notices bulges OWO what’s this?”

This is such a bullshit story, based on the words of one republican governor

[–] clay_pidgin@sh.itjust.works 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Some of those phrases are pretty darn long to engrave on a casing.

[–] rocketpoweredredneck@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 day ago (2 children)

People keep saying engraved, I don't know if this is subtle narrative or something, but I can almost guarantee nothing was engraved on the case or the bullet. Written with a ultra-fine sharpie, all of these phrases would easily fit on a 30.06 case, they're almost two and half inches long and I don't know the diameter of the case itself but its bigger than the .308, which is fairly girthy

[–] clay_pidgin@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 day ago (2 children)

fine sharpie makes much more sense. I wish they'd just release pictures of it, but especially after the United Healthcare > MN school shooter > this guy chain, they probably want to discourage copycats.

Though copy cat kind of implies the crimes are similar, which I don't agree with.

I wish they'd just release pictures of it

They're writing as fast as they can, man! Their hands are cramping! They'll show us when they are done, geez!

I could see similarities if the CK shooter was left wing, current news is saying he's an ultra right wing nut who thought Kirk wasn't far right enough, but who actually knows. I doubt we'll know the truth of any of this for a while or at all. It took weeks for factual info to come out about Luigi, and there's still doubt about the info's validity.

.308 is essentially just a shortened .30-06, so nearly identical diameters.

Russia, China 'Bots' Want Violence After Charlie Kirk Killing: Governor

"There is a tremendous amount of disinformation we are tracking," Cox said. "What we're seeing is our adversaries want violence."

"We have bots from Russia, China, all over the world, that are trying to instill misinformation and encourage violence. I would encourage you to ignore those, to turn off those streams," he said.

The problem isn't the bots, the idiocy of the dumbest Americans not having an ounce of descretion.

[–] Bonus@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Once again, they're forced to confront reality and admit Russia is attacking us. Surely, there will be backlash.

You seem to have forgotten someone

Russia's the one they've been denying I guess is what I was getting at.

Huh... Caught it right in the neck of time.

What is "bulges" referencing? In pants?

[–] bigfondue@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It's a furry meme, and yes bulge in pants owo

[–] morphballganon@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

So someone unfamiliar with furry memes might think it refers to an unexpected bulge in a trans woman's pants? I guess?

[–] bigfondue@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (2 children)

That would be giving them the benefit of the doubt. I would think it is just disinformation aimed at their favorite scapegoat

[–] PuddleOfKittens@sh.itjust.works 2 points 20 hours ago

Okay, but there's every reason to think the department investigating this has been purged of anyone not a self-declared Republican. Because as a reminder, that's a thing that Trump's regime has explicitly done (or try to do) govt-wide.

[–] morphballganon@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Oh absolutely. Just wondering what sort of story sheep will invent to explain their beliefs, to be less caught off-guard by it.

Heh if true Kirk was. better at catching things hurled at him then i would have thought.
