The Special Operations Forces struck the "ELOU-AVT-4" unit at "Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat" (formerly "Salavatnefteorgsintez" until 2011)
The affected unit - 53.4134773,55.8852440
"ELOU-AVT-4" is a complex of primary raw material processing units, consisting of two parts:
ELOU - an electro-desalting unit (desalting + water removal from raw material), which prepares the oil for further distillation.
AVT-4 - atmospheric-vacuum tubular distillation, i.e., a unit that separates raw material into fractions at atmospheric pressure and reduced pressure (vacuum) (atmospheric + vacuum distillation). This allows obtaining light and medium fractions (gasoline, diesel, kerosene), as well as vacuum gas oil and heavy residues (bitumen) for further processing.
I guess that's a particularly critical component that's also hard to repair?
That is basically the main part of an oil refinery. Everything else is just there to supply the tower and take away various products. There is also further smaller processes after that. Also the hardest and most expensive part to repair/replace.
