The funniest part is the ‘dead’ ants just accept it and stand in the ant graveyard they’re hauled off to until the smell wears off. What else are they gonna do? They’re dead!

Makes you wonder whether there is a condition that would make humans think an other human is dead and with that human believing it as well they just get burried. But they aren't really dead we just can't tell otherwise.

There's a scene in Blindsight where they're getting blasted with unholy amounts of magnetism, fucks with everyone's head. One chick thinks her leg is dead and is screaming and trying to pull it off. Not sure I count it a horror novel, but it has it's moments.

Perhaps we should wait to bury our dead for a few days just to be sure. We'll take turns being by their side, in case they "wake".

That's why they used to bury people with bell strings

Or perhaps, hear me out here, we could dedicate an entire field of science to understanding human biology, and train many people in this subject as professionals. They will be qualified to, among other things, examine a patient and determine objectively that they are deceased with no chance of revival. They can then verbally communicate this fact, or in other words, "pronounce" that the patient is dead.

idk I'm just spitballing here.

To this day people are pronounced dead and waking up.

And get hammered and cry together.

Understandable. If I've learned one thing in my time on this earth, it's that any words that contain more vocals than consonants spell trouble.
