Ah, yes, people at Walmart, the trusted demographic known for often being completely oblivious to their own brand of obstruction.

"Why are you going to impeach Biden? What has he done?"

"People at Walmart don't cotton to him."

[-] SinningStromgald@lemmy.world 16 points 11 months ago

That actually lines up as their best reason so far.

[-] dandan@lemmy.world 47 points 11 months ago

Lmao. Tell me this is satire.

[-] mateomaui@reddthat.com 33 points 11 months ago

The GOP? Yeah, pretty much.

[-] Redhotkurt@kbin.social 3 points 11 months ago

But if it's satire, then what does GOP mean? Gross Old People? Oooh I like that, we should make it a thing.

Nothing says ‘very serious impeachment inquiry’ quite like creating a logo and printing it on the front of your podium.

[-] mateomaui@reddthat.com 21 points 11 months ago

Sort of “do you have a flag?” vibes.

"The obese man in the mobility scooter, buying 10 cases of soda really doesn't like Biden"

[-] zeppo@lemmy.world 26 points 11 months ago

This guy is working a new record for saying particularly dumb things.

Comer responded that moderate House Republicans are more willing to vote for a Biden impeachment inquiry now because they went home over Thanksgiving and heard from their constituents at Walmart.

I'm sure that's a representative sample of the population, people who go to see their Republican rep at Walmart, and also, they couldn't have guessed that of course dedicated Republicans would be happy to see Biden impeached for anything. Not as if "let's go brandon" could have tipped them off.

[-] Telorand@reddthat.com 16 points 11 months ago

Republican politicians going to Walmart? Lol. They wouldn't piss on that subset of constituents if they were on fire.

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 14 points 11 months ago

If they knew news cameras would be there to film it, they would rush down to Walmart as quickly as they could.

[-] zeppo@lemmy.world 2 points 11 months ago

For members in rural or the weird suburban-rural districts, it might be the only reasonable place to have a political gathering.

Considering some of the more outspoken reps, you may actually find one (or more) in the musicals aisle giving out handjobs.

[-] jordanlund@lemmy.world 20 points 11 months ago

Confident he'll have the votes, if course, they don't have any high crimes or misdemeanors, but they'll have the votes! LOL!

[-] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 7 points 11 months ago

They don't even have any traffic citations.

Conservatives are both the joke, AND the punchline.

[-] Tikiporch@lemmy.world 15 points 11 months ago

What, exactly, is he referring to when he says "smoking guns" have been revealed?

James Comer will never tire of embarrassing himself.

[-] Telorand@reddthat.com 2 points 11 months ago

GOP: James, quick! We need you to say something stupid to distract people from our inability to govern!

Comer: Stupid...? How about I say the smartest thing I can think of?

GOP: ...uh, yeah! That's what we meant... 👀

[-] iBaz@lemmy.world 11 points 11 months ago

Ah yes, spend 2+ years trying to find evidence of any form of crime without success, but one visit to Walmart and now it’s time to move ahead.

[-] DemBoSain@midwest.social 11 points 11 months ago

How many of these constituents do you suppose used the term "Biden Crime Family"?

Also, I can't get my rep to give me the time of day. He only invites his supporters to his "public" meetings, and doesn't publicize them before hand. It never occurred to me to wander around Wal-mart looking for him.

[-] Everythingispenguins@lemmy.world 10 points 11 months ago

Walmart 🤣😂🤣😂🤣 They didn't not fucking step a foot in to a Walmart. That is way too close to the unwashed masses for them.

[-] Cobrachickenwing@lemmy.ca 7 points 11 months ago

House Republicans will find that this will not be another Clinton impeachment. They will find a very hostile opponent and will end Congress with nothing to show the voters in 2024.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

The allegations have been denied by the White House and Hunter Biden's lawyers, with Democrats criticizing the GOP's impeachment inquiries for failing to find any meaningful evidence against the president.

Comer responded that moderate House Republicans are more willing to vote for a Biden impeachment inquiry now because they went home over Thanksgiving and heard from their constituents at Walmart.

So they heard from their constituents, 'Yes we want you to move forward, we want to know the truth and expect the Bidens to be held accountable for public corruption,'" Comer said.

Labeled as a loan repayment, the check was issued on the same date in 2018 when Americore Health LLC wired $200,000 into James Biden's bank account.

Comer maintains that the loan repayment raises questions about whether the president personally benefited from his family's business ventures.

"Even if this was a personal loan repayment, it's still troubling that Joe Biden's ability to be paid back by his brother depended on the success of his family's shady financial dealings," he said in his video statement announcing the discovery in October.

The original article contains 869 words, the summary contains 180 words. Saved 79%. I'm a bot and I'm open source!

Good! It's about time they investigated Biden for doing the EXACT same thing as Comer in paying back a hefty family loan!
