Discussion Community for fellow Marxist-Leninists and other Marxists.

Rules for /c/communism

Rules that visitors must follow to participate. May be used as reasons to report or ban.

  1. No non-marxists

This subreddit is here to facilitate discussion between marxists.

There are other communities aimed at helping along new communists. This community isn't here to convert naysayers to marxism.

If you are a member of the police, armed forces, or any other part of the repressive state apparatus of capitalist nations, you will be banned.

  1. No oppressive language

Do not attempt to justify your use of oppressive language.

Doing this will almost assuredly result in a ban. Accept the criticism in a principled manner, edit your post or comment accordingly, and move on, learning from your mistake.

We believe that speech, like everything else, has a class character, and that some speech can be oppressive. This is why speech that is patriarchal, white supremacist, cissupremacist, homophobic, ableist, or otherwise oppressive is banned.

TERF is not a slur.

  1. No low quality or off-topic posts

Posts that are low-effort or otherwise irrelevant will be removed.

This is not a place to engage in meta-drama or discuss random reactionaries on lemmy or anywhere else.

This includes memes and circlejerking.

This includes most images, such as random books or memorabilia you found.

We ask that amerikan posters refrain from posting about US bourgeois politics. The rest of the world really doesn’t care that much.

  1. No basic questions about marxism

Posts asking entry-level questions will be removed.

Questions like “What is Maoism?” or “Why do Stalinists believe what they do?” will be removed, as they are not the focus on this forum.

  1. No sectarianism

Marxists of all tendencies are welcome here.

Refrain from sectarianism, defined here as unprincipled criticism. Posts trash-talking a certain tendency or marxist figure will be removed. Circlejerking, throwing insults around, and other pettiness is unacceptable.

If criticisms must be made, make them in a principled manner, applying Marxist analysis.

The goal of this subreddit is the accretion of theory and knowledge and the promotion of quality discussion and criticism.

MODERATORS

I made a legitimate thread asking if China becoming the world's factory is seen as a good thing, considering how it's a communist nation.

Then some crazy mod went through my posting history, found a comment about me criticizing China, Iran, North Korea, and Russia for not having a free press.

He said something about it being funny, then censored my thread, ironically proving me correct.

What's up with you guys? Why are you afraid of any kind of legitimate discussion or facts?

Are you scared?

Liberal goes to communist community, spouts typical liberal nonsense, has a long history of ignorant and lazy opinions, never engages a discussion in good faith, accuses community of censorship and cowardice, and wonders why no one will debate them.

Yeah, it's a real mystery.

"Are you scared?" Considering the fact that you hold the commonly held opinions of the western public I'll just say that we're used to the bullshit youre spewing. Why would we allow you to pollute our space too with your drivel when it can be seen on almost the entire internet, and in fact that same exact question has been asked here many times by similar people to yourself? Seems redundant if you ask me

You're being censored because you're annoying, not because of the things you're saying. Do you imagine that for the 75 years NO ONE has thought of the things you are saying? Like nobody? We're all just braindead zombies and you're here to enlighten us but we just can't take it?

Are you that full of yourself?

News flash, communists are some of the best read people on the planet outside of medievalists and literary critics.

Communists have to study everything you have had to study, but they had to do it twice and they had to study the sources behind what you've studied AND they had to study the opposition to it. And then they had to study the opposition to that opposition!

It's a wonder you can even put your pants on in the morning if this is the level of discourse you think accounts for "censorship".

You're just being kicked out of the country club for being a nuisance.

Oh for fuck’s sake, you made a worthless thread vaguely asking ‘I guess China seized the means of production? Is this seen as a good thing?’ in a subcommunity that is explicitly unintended for anticommunists. This isn’t /c/Communism101. Although if I am being honest, I have a feeling that they’ll quickly run out of patience trying to deprogramme a pompous ass like you.

China becoming the world's factory is exactly one of the things socialism is about: the development of productive forces. Go read The German Ideology.

Secondly, what the hell is "Free Press"? Have you ever spent 5 minutes thinking what is it about? Have you ever thought about whose interests the "Free Press" serve and if the interests that drive Western government policy aren't the same?

Third of all, the things you are stating are things repeated over and over by the US press, US pop culture, US propagandists, US backed NGOs? Have you ever questioned the sources you use to criticize other non-aligned governments or do you just take those sources at face value?

Many of us, including me, have been an idiotic liberal such as yourself. We all learned to critically question our own beliefs, developed a critical attitude towards information, about the true meaning of "freedom" (which for you is a meaningless word - try to define what is freedom and how you are actually free?), something you never done in your life before. If you don't engage with any of your previous past beliefs critically, how do expect any people here to engage you seriously, without thinking you are some sort of parrot spewing all kinds of ideological common (non)sense?

To quote a classic XKCD. Emphasis mine.

Public Service Announcement: The Right to Free Speech means the government can't arrest you for what you say. It doesn't mean that anyone else has to listen to your bullshit, or host you while you share it. The 1st Amendment doesn't shield you from criticism or consequences.

If you're yelled at, boycotted, have your show canceled, or get banned from an Internet community, your free speech rights aren't being violated. It's just that the people listening think you're an asshole, and they're showing you the door.

[–] p0ntyp00l@lemmygrad.ml 17 points 4 days ago

Because we're all evil and hate freedom. Is that what you want to hear?

I think I know what the "SS" in "Nuggie_SS" stands for. Schutzstaffel

I have no idea who you are so I don't know what you did or didn't do but from this post alone I can conclude that you are annoying

[–] i_rainbowlicious@lemmygrad.ml 22 points 4 days ago

Imagine being a liberal and thinking you have any right at all to critique the PRC or DPRK.
