First the ~~non-whites~~ immigrants, then scholars, now the non-neurotypicals. This pattern looks awfully familiar.

[–] NABDad@lemmy.world 62 points 2 days ago (2 children)

They haven't declared war on autism. They've declared war on science and knowledge in general.

I hate to say it because it's become a cliche, but it's Idiocracy.

[–] Soggy@lemmy.world 32 points 2 days ago (1 children)

To continue the cliche, it's worse. They still recognized the value of intelligence in Idiocracy.

[–] NABDad@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

I had forgotten that, but you're right.

[–] ArchmageAzor@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

No, it's fascism. Part of the fascist playbook is the removal of the arts and the sciences.

Within 10 years Hollywood will not be allowed to produce anything not approved by the government.

[–] db2@lemmy.world 107 points 3 days ago (3 children)

It gets dumber. Worm brain and no brain now state confidently that autism is because the mother took a paracetamol. They're incredibly stupid "people".

[–] PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca 62 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

It sets up the legal framework to charge parents of autistic children with child abuse and take away their kids.

[–] andros_rex@lemmy.world 30 points 3 days ago (1 children)

It’s already been happening in Oklahoma btw. Can’t get the fucking news to cover it.

[–] PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca 11 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I haven’t heard of this. What has happened?

[–] andros_rex@lemmy.world 23 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Look at what was happening at the Greer Center.

It’s all across the state. Very deeply entrenched - look at how the whistle blower had her pictures posted around town/was sexually harassed in retaliation for bringing up the physical abuse of children/vulnerable adults.

I have personally begged news outlets to cover things like DHS not reporting missing, DHS throwing away reports of abuse, cover ups…. No one cares. Everything’s Sinclair.

If we ever return to federal sanity, maybe things will get investigated. But childcare and mental health care and education here are hellish.

Anyone who says this stuff to me I'm going to just retort it by blaming it on other scientifically unsound reasons. Not because it will help, but because it will be entertaining for me. "Any father who ate red meat in the week leading up to insemination increased the chances of autism from near 0, to 1 in 50."

[–] BremboTheFourth@piefed.ca 14 points 3 days ago (1 children)

If you blame red meat a lot of these people will just nod and rub their chin knowingly. There are a lot of crunchy hippies who have completely disconnected from reality. But I guess reducing meat consumption isn't a bad thing

Studies show that sexual congress in a north-south orientation results in an 83% increase in autism diagnosis.

It's a correlation doesn't equal causation issue. Iirc years ago there was a study showing that certain viral infections during pregnancy might be linked to autism.

Guess what people often take for symptom relief?

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 9 points 2 days ago

The influence of genetics is very clear, with anticipation up the spectrum with every generation, especially with older parents.

No one in austism research is taking environmental factors seriously in the last decade.

[–] Nikls94@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago

Your leader needs a makeover, giving him the looks of this cat

[–] Cassa@lemmy.blahaj.zone 74 points 3 days ago (15 children)

facism. This is the same stuff the actual nazia did.

they divided autistics into the categories of functional to the state or not, and killed off the ones who were not "funtional"

[–] spooky2092@lemmy.blahaj.zone 18 points 2 days ago

facism. This is the same stuff the actual nazia did.

But don't actually call them Nazis, you'll have very normal people responding to you that they can't be Nazis because they're not actively running gas chambers or invading Poland or some nonsense.

I weep for the historical literacy of this country. So many will argue about what to call these shitheads while they slowly work their way through the 'undesirables' until they get to people they care about. It's like that old poem:

"At first they came for the Latinos and gays, but I didn't say anything because we have to tone police monikers until we're at the hight of the barbarity."

Or something, idk.

Europe, your shit stinks too. You're still trying to ram through installing wiretaps on everyone's devices, outlawing encryption and VPNs, your protesters in favor of the Palestinian people are still being brutalized and imprisoned, nearly all of your countries are moving farther and farther towards fascism themselves.

Da fuck you doing over there yourselves?

The US is under the control of the fourth reich, yes, and following the exact same playbook as Nazi Germany did (trans folks, disabled people, our very own Reichstag, etc). Just please watch your own shit too.

[–] Tartas1995@discuss.tchncs.de 5 points 2 days ago

Sadly true. But in Europe, things don't only move towards the shitters. Which gives me hope.

Anyway, europe might have to look into the French playbook.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 11 points 2 days ago

Fascist March in Rome two weeks ago.

[–] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 15 points 2 days ago

Nothing good. The bad people are winning, and the rest of us are in distress. It's hard to explain...

Imagine your job is no longer secure. Imagine your afraid of going to the doctor, because treatment for anything other than something basic could bankrupt your entire family.

You're now 15% along your way to understanding Americans.

[–] crusa187@lemmy.ml 31 points 2 days ago

Whatever we’re doing, it’s not looking at the Trump-Epstein Files!

[–] Dorkyd68@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago

Trumps mad cause he cant pronounce acetaminophen, as such he's waging war on the name brand Tylenol saying it's linked to autism. When in reality he just cant pronounce it so yeah. Word is he's taking on tums next saying "eating driveway chaulk works just the same, trust me"

[–] taiyang@lemmy.world 27 points 3 days ago (4 children)

RFK Jr. said he's gonna personally hunt down the first autistic (aka prime autistic) and kill them, which as we all know will cure all forms of autism world wide.

Or maybe something equally absurd, anyway.

[–] rustyfish@piefed.world 9 points 3 days ago (1 children)

He has already been seen luring the prime autistic on the White House garden.

Events come thick and fast.

Also trans people, brown people, women, gay people and anyone whose politics are more left than hitlers.

[–] Lyra_Lycan@lemmy.blahaj.zone 26 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Hey, I just learned that the Conservatives of the USA have a conspiracy regarding 'transgender ideology terrorist cells'. I thought the destruction of the US would be fun to watch, but their international influence and actual harm to people is beyond a joke.

In one post, Mr. Musk referred to the transgender community as a “terrorist cell.”

Yeah dude, it's very real. We're weeks (possibly days) away from them shipping trans people (and homeless people, and "antifa," and...) to camps.

Please send help.

What is going on, fake causes of diseases and anti Vax is the tip of the iceberg.

Medicalization of social problems: Medical practitioners played a central role in promoting and implementing the regime's goals by redefining social and political issues as medical problems. The state was framed as the primary "patient," and its "health" required the elimination of undesirable elements."Life unworthy of life": This central principle (LebensunwertesLeben) was used to justify the killing of those considered a biological and financial burden on society. It targeted individuals with physical and mental disabilities, including those deemed "feebleminded," chronically ill, or otherwise "defective".

Forced sterilization: The 1933 "Law for the Prevention of Offspring with Hereditary Diseases" mandated the involuntary sterilization of those diagnosed with alleged hereditary ailments, such as schizophrenia, epilepsy, Huntington's chorea, and "feeblemindedness." By the end of the Nazi regime, an estimated 400,000 people were forcibly sterilized.

The T4 Euthanasia Program: Beginning in 1939, this program involved the systematic murder of institutionalized patients with physical and mental disabilities. Initially involving children, the program expanded to adults, killing an estimated 250,000 people.

[–] Soggy@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Eugenics was very popular before WWII, that's definitely not limited to a single country.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The US waged a campaign of sterilization in Puerto Rico to slow down it's population growth and to prevent it from becoming a state. The US also regularly sterilized Latinas up until the 1970's

[–] Soggy@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Yeah, and we're in good company.

(To be clear, this is reprehensible. But it's not helpful to focus solely on the US on this topic.)

[–] TomMasz@lemmy.world 18 points 3 days ago (1 children)

We're on the road to total stupidity and just floored the accelerator.

Then they came for the autistics...

[–] TheBat@lemmy.world 14 points 2 days ago

And I was busy sorting my coin collection

[–] Zaphod@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

What's their problem with autism? Are they just using it as a tool to scare people away from certain things? Is the average knowledge about autism in the US really this far behind?

[–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

They started with the immigrants and "criminals." Then they openly said to imprison the homeless. Now they're targeting comedians, judges, sexual minorities, and the neurodivergent while laying the groundwork to declare political opponents terrorists.

Empires took centuries to completely fall, but now everything moves a lot faster...

[–] macncheese@lemmy.world 9 points 3 days ago

I guess launching the Tylenol v Advil wars of 2025. Oh and supposedly the rapture is happening today or maybe it was yesterday. You couldn't write this script with a million monkeys on typewriters!
