Welcome to a Star Trek community where you’re free to chat and share your opinions about all things Trek!
I want to have a place where fans can come to praise, discuss, and even criticise things in the Star Trek franchise. No show or movie is perfect, and I don't believe people should be silenced for having a dissenting opinion. That being said, there are still a few rules.
Be Nice - No personal attacks. You can disagree with someone's opinion, but it needs to stop there.
No Slurs - This is applicable to ethnicity, religion, gender, or anything else.
No Adult Content - Keep it family friendly.
No Spamming or Trolling - Consistently spamming comments or trolling is just not needed.
Keep Topics Trek Related - This is a Star Trek community, so of course discussion should stay in that area! That means no real world politics.
I've been enjoying it too! I'm interested in seeing what they do with Academy. It does look like they're going to switch to an ensemble this time, which is good! So I guess I'll watch some of it and see what I think about it.
I am still trying to finish The Next Generation but I am a slow watcher. I have reached season 5 episode 18 'cause and effect's
The Enterprise becomes stuck in a time loop but the crew retain some memory of previous instances.
I remember that one being pretty good! Time loop stories can be pretty hit or miss for me, but this was one of the fun ones.
My wife said she is having Michael Burnham fatigue, so we are taking a break from Discovery. We did watch more Voyager, we are well into season 4 concluding this week with the Year of Hell 2 parter.
We also started TNG, I was not sure she would make it through Encounter at Farpoint. But she did, and we finished episode 3. She could not figure out who old Bones was though. When she saw the zoom out and it showed his uniform next to the Next Gen uniform she realized it was someone from TOS.
Quite a bit of variety! Main character fatigue is definitely a real thing for me too, I think Discovery's focus on just one character instead of a few characters or an ensemble was a misstep. I was just thinking about my all time favorite shows, and I don't think a single one focuses primarily on one character!
I wish they would have gone with the rumored full season or part season arc they originally wanted for the Year of Hell story. I'm not a fan of the super heavy serialization I see in some shows, but if they could have told some self contained stories while gradually progressing the arc it could have been really good! The two parter was still very good, although they slapped the big reset button yet again!
Yeah, early TNG is pretty rough sometimes. Hopefully she ends up enjoying it!
I've been watching a lot of Babylon 5 this week, (which I'm really enjoying!) but I also watched some some more Voyager and listened to the Khan episode too.
