I would say they’re all equally good, at least much better than using the app or web browser. Personally, I use invidious on my pc and NewPipe on my phone :3

dom't use TOR network for youtube 😅 that's needlessly using resources.

For Privacy? Obviously some sort of VPN, otherwise YT will get your IP. Beyond that I don't think it matters much. I mean if you use an external instance that, too, will get your IP, so decide if you trust them.

FWIW I use yt-dlp + mpv

All ways give some form of data to Google, so I'd say the best ones are those that allow offline watch, like yt-dlp, Grayjay, etc., the ones with in-built DRM-free download options

Tor. I know that is not a list, but all other options provide the most important metadata anyway (what you watch, when you watch, where you watch). If you use invidious, you are just giving you data to them instead, which COULD have security implications.

An interesting idea would be to have a script that is always watching unrelated videos. Poisoning the well.
