I have no idea why some distros name is between quotes, maybe the list is dictated by Mini Me in Steam HQ or is it some kind of sarcasm?
The ones in quotes seem to not have version numbers.

That's probably how the distro reports it in /etc/os-release or wherever they're pulling it from. My distro isn't on the list so I can't really poke around.
Nice to see Fedora Workstation go down and Fedora KDE go up.

I'll never understand people who care this much about the DE someone else uses.
It's funny how much people say Linux is about choice, but the second they see someone pick a different choice to them, they go crazy.
Because GNOME is the default, which any new user is likely to pick and then gain the impression that the desktop experience on Linux is subpar (more likely for former windows users imo).
This is basically what happend to me and I missed out on using Linux for several years because I thought it wasn't ready, when it turns out stuff like Compiz already figured out excellent UX design more than a decade ago.
Gnome is not the default. Windows is the default. People go out of their way to install Linux, they choose what they want to install. Nobody forces Gnome. People choose it.
The only distro that Valve seriously supports is SteamOS which... doesn't use Gnome.
Besides, you thinking Gnome UX is bad is just an opinion. I think it's far better than any of the clunky Win95-like UXes I see. But I don't go around shitting on people for preferring a windows-like UX. It's their machine and they should use whatever they like.
I chose what I was told was easiest which was Ubuntu and that has GNOME. A year later when I had enough of GNOME (which I still much preferred over Windows) I decided I was up to installing what I actually wanted and only because it came with an installer.
I didn't realize Cachy was so popular. Nice! I've been enjoying it. I haven't run regular Arch so I can't comment on the comparison between the two, but Cachy has been nice for gaming.
I've said it before and I'll keep saying it. Folks on Windows who are skeptical about switching, most things just work now. It's very nice.

I think it's interesting that CPU cores drops from 6 to 4 when filtering to Linux only.
The hell is SteamOS holo and "Other"?
SteamOS Holo is the Steam Deck.
Other is all the other distros with less market share than the lowest one mentioned (Fedora 42 Workstation w/ 1.95%), which includes Mine: openSUSE Tumbleweed.
